The door was not properly closed and the aircraft (??OPM) precautionary returned to the field.

It's a mock up the airport got from the Aviodrome. That was a 2006 action.

I wonder if any of you Lelystad experts can help out a recent first-time visitor, please. I was there on 05.04.08 (the morning of the MLM storage site open afternoon) & have a few queries. I hope someone might be able to identify these for me.

1. In a wooded area was a F.27 (?) cockpit which carried the number 218 above the door with a fuselage. I couldn’t decide whether the fuselage matched the cockpit or not as it was possibly of smaller diameter.

2. Through the window of a building which is I think an annexe to the museum I saw Fokker Dr.1 replica (PH-DRI) & Nieuport 28 replica (PH-NIE). Behind them was what appeared to be another F.27 fuselage section, without a fin. Is this the remains of PH-NIV, please? Or maybe something else?

3. Inside the main hall of the Aviodrome museum was a Pou de Ciel marked PH-POU – is this a real airframe, please, or perhaps a replica? If it’s a real one, is PH-POU its correct registration?

4. In front of the T2 hangar of the Aviodrome were two unpainted or silver cockpits/forward fuselages. One at least I now know to be a Stearman Hammond Y-1-S, possible the other one was too (it was a bit more disassembled than the other but was definitely twin engined or twin boomed). I know the museum has 4 of these Stearman Hammond aircraft – can anyone tell me which one(s) were outside that day?

I would be grateful for any assistance with these requests.

1 I think you saw a cockpit from a Fokker 50 that was not finished at the time Fokker went into bankruptcy, and the administrators decided not to finish this particular machine. It was used at the Aviodome at Schiphol to make simulated para-jumps by visitors.

2 I think you were looking into Early Birds. They are not part of the museum, but work closely together. The aft-end of the fuselage of PH-NIV is property of Aviodrome, but it is possible that they store something at Early Birds, as Early Birds also perform restaurations in the main Aviodrome museum hall. When the remains of PH-NIV were last displayed in Aviodrome, it looked like what you described.

3 The Pou-du-ciel is a real aircraft, but the registration is fake.

Indeed, the Fokker F-27-0502 (c/n 20318) cockpitsection and F-27-0502 (c/n 20325) fuselage are now in use with the Lelystad Airport Fire Brigade for rescue exercisis.
They are indeed the ones on your picture, with the DC-2 between.

Question 1 has been nicely dealt with, so I'll focus on the other 3:

2. The building you mean is indeed an annexe of the Aviodrome; contrary to what Aviodromefriend states it is NOT the hangar of Early Birds, but the first part of the large hangar to the other side of the Wings over Holland complex. And yes, that were the remains of PH-NIV's rear fuselage. Apart from the aircraft (parts) you mention, it also holds Avro Anson "D-26" in spurious KLu-c/s (it being ex-RAF VM352)... at least, it did on May 5!

3. PH-POU is indeed a fake i/d; however, its correct registration eludes us. All I know is that it was originally built in the UK in 1936 and was acquired in the UK by the Aviodrome in 1985.

4. Aviodrome has 3 (not 4) Stearman fuselages: NC15521, NC15525 and NC15527. The "4th" is merely a set of tailbooms from NC15524. The Stearmans arrived on the Thursday before your visit (April 3) and all three were outside at that time, parked together in a row. From front to back: 15527, 15521, 15525. Of these three, 15527 is the least complete(but, interestingly, the best preserved one as it had been stored inside and the other two were stored outside...)
