It was reported in English aviation press earlier this year that the closing down of US activities at RAF Mildenhall has been postponed from 2024 to AT LEAST 2027 (if at all) and that no aircraft will be relocated before that date. This was confirmed by a 100ARW spokesperson.jp 74 wrote:is there something mentioned about the spec ops squadron moving to Spang from RAF Mildenhall, is this cancelled?

Interesting... so this might all have been in the works for quite some time now.JPS wrote:Rumours are getting stronger that 480FS will move from Spangdahlem to Lask, announcement expected later tonight (21:30 CET) when President Duda of Poland and President Trump give a joint press conference in the White House:

Actual news today is that 480FS is to relocate to Aviano, not Lask. 100ARW and 352SOW will remain at Mildenhall and will not relocate to Spangdahlem, EUCOM to move from Stuttgart to Mons (Belgium; will most likely see an increase of traffic at Chièvres) and African Command also set to move out of Germany.

Sounds odd as There is absolutly no space for another full Fighter Sqn at Aviano

There are three shelter areas at Aviano so one additional squadron shouldn't be a problem I think. As you probably know they housed a shitload of aircraft during the Yugoslavia conflict.Guinness wrote:frank kramer wrote:Actual news today is that 480FS is to relocate to Aviano, not Lask. 100ARW and 352SOW will remain at Mildenhall and will not relocate to Spangdahlem, EUCOM to move from Stuttgart to Mons (Belgium; will most likely see an increase of traffic at Chièvres) and African Command also set to move out of Germany.
