In this review, the 150-600mm is compared with the 400mm f/5.6L. The Tamron optically holds up well against the Canon prime - the fixed 400mm is a bit sharper but nothing that can't be resolved with a touch of sharpening during post processing.
However, during the testing, the reviewer had a lot of problems with the auto focus of the 150-600mm, on both the 5D MkIII and the 70D.
This could just be a bad example of course - but something to keep an eye out for.

Ordered this lens about 5 weeks ago at bol.com for Euro 1099,-. Still not delivered. All shops in the Netherlands do not have this lens on stock. In the meanwhile this lens sells at bol.com for E 1359 now with an expected delivery of 7 weeks.

That sucks! I got mine early this year and I am very happy with it. Image quality certainly similar to the Canon 100-400 I had before. Stabilization and autofocus need a bit of getting used to. The AF only seems to work on my EOS60D when already close to in-focus, but then it is sharp most of the time. This lens is strong enough to read registrations of several widebodies flying overhead at FL370! Good luck waiting, I hope they will be available soon again...

Still no delivery of the lens. Bol now states delivery next week.
Found these aircraft images taken with the Tamron 150-600mm

Still no sign of the lens. Called bol.com and they said they cannot predict when the lens will be delivered.
So I called the distribitor in the Netherlands. The receive batches of about 10 lenses at once. The next delivery can be a couple of weeks later. People are on the waitinglist for as long as February.
So Tamron seems to be a victim of its own success.

I bought one for Nikon today and it arrived last Friday at my local shop wich received 2 of these lenses.
Did some test shots outside today from several things (no planes) and I was impressed.
I bought mine for 1195 at kamera.nl (foto v/d waal in Schiedam)
The most expensive extra for this lens is it's 95 MM filter...that set me back another 150 euro's
Best regards, Jan

Yes, I've seen your photos in the photo topic - could you perhaps post some 100% crops or just a full 100% picture that was taken at 600mm and f/6.3 and f/8?
Because when resized to 1000 pixels and sharpened, any lens will look great
Can you share your experiences with this lens while at Mildenhall? How was the AF speed with your camera, did the lens "hunt" a lot? And what was the keeper rate of this lens, compared to whatever lens you were using previously?
(Because we always of course post our sharpest shots on here but no one can see it when only 1 out of 10 pictures is actually sharp!)

Dear Jan,
I am also very interested in this lens, could you have a look the above questions from Erik?
And Marcelb, have you received yours by now?

I can tell you that the keeper rate was a lot higher than with my old Nikon 80-400 and it is faster then the Sigma 120-400.Basman wrote:Yes, I've seen your photos in the photo topic - could you perhaps post some 100% crops or just a full 100% picture that was taken at 600mm and f/6.3 and f/8?

For me the lens is a keeper and i am picky, i must tell you that it is always difficult to keep the lens steady with these focal points and slow shutterspeeds but i am going to post a few 100% crops.
Hunting by the way was limited to the 6,3 range of the lens but i experienced it on my D7000 wich only focus to a f5,6 and i did not experienced it too often.
On my D7100 it worked even better ...
Regards, Jan
