Re: 1st CAB taking over from 3rd CAB (11th AB rotation Atlantic Resolve)
Is the overview on page 1 now complete? I've lost track of what went through Woensdrecht with the amount of messages here and on the EHWO page.
Well done to those who covered the 1st CAB move.
Regards
Mark

Yes it is, just missing a few that went through Greece. All arrivals/departures through NL are covered. Also, still 2 in Vlissingen. For a daily overview off movements/order off parkings, pls check the daily EHWO topics.

Noted this morning at Linz-Hörsching airport:
HH-60M 10-20303 C/2-1AVN - 1 CAB markings, last three in red cross on door
HH-60M 11-20350 C/2-1AVN - no markings, last three in white on tail
HH-60M 12-20505 C/2-1AVN - 1 CAB markings, all black serial
CH-47F 16-08202 B/2-1AVN - 1 CAB markings, all black serial
All serials read by myself.
They have been nightstopping on their way from Thessaloniki to Germany, and are currentlly still at Linz.

What?!? Why the hell didn’t they unload them in Vlissingen! I always thought that those that were unloaded in Thessaloniki are destined for the detachments in Greece, Bulgaria and Romania!Hilco wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 11:31 Noted this morning at Linz-Hörsching airport:

I really don't know and was thinking the exact same thing. But still happy that at least some of them come through LinzFishbed_9307 wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 11:46What?!? Perhaps they did a race whoever got to Illesheim first.

Also I think there is no such thing as 1CAB because there is a 1st Infantry Division, 1st Cavalry Division and 1st Armored Division. 1st Cavalry Division is sometimes referred to as 1st Air Cavalry Division (1st ARB). As for 1st Infantry and 1st Armored I frequently see just CAB/1st Infantry Division and CAB/1st Armored Division.

Re: 1st CAB taking over from 3rd CAB (11th AB rotation Atlantic Resolve)

Re: 1st CAB taking over from 3rd CAB (11th AB rotation Atlantic Resolve)
I dug into this a bit deeper today. It appears that the CAB of the 1st Infantry Division is indeed called 1st CAB "Demon Brigade". The CAB of the 1st Cavalry Brigade is referred to as the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade "Air Cav" while the CAB of the 1st Armored Division appears to be referred to as 1AD CAB "Iron Eagle".Glidepath wrote: ↑30 Oct 2023, 17:04 The header of that article is: 1ST COMBAT AVIATION BRIGADE (1CAB)
and with that bombshell, it ends any discussion, interpretation or assumption.
this and the above is no news as such, and might / should be relegated to the proper area of this forum. or rather: the dust bin. Mod? go your gang
As far as I know the other CAB's are mostly numbered by their division with the exception of the 16th CAB at Fort Lewis which should be assigned to the 7th Infantry Division and the (downgraded) Germany based 12th CAB which is assigned to V Corps.

Re: 1st CAB taking over from 3rd CAB (11th AB rotation Atlantic Resolve)
It seems that the 101st Airborne Division was the only division with two CAB's; the 101st CAB and the 159th CAB but the latter was disbanded some time ago. I have no indication that there are divisions with more than one CAB now.midlum wrote: ↑30 Oct 2023, 11:57 Yes, they are 1st CAB. But within 1 ID. Unlike most Dutch army units, the US Army does not have most unique numbers for "smaller" units (as company of batallion). At mentioning 1st CAB you always have to mention (in this case) 1 ID.
It is getting more unique with 3rd CAB. But that is just because there are few divisions with three CABs.

Not sure if this one was already known, but CH47 15-08197 has ‘sweet action’ on it’s ramp when its lowered.
