Re: 104's
Hey there!
Fabulous 104, what can I say?! I consider myself lucky to have seen this one flying with the KLu. Beats F4 for sure......but JUST, ok? I loved going through this thread. Some old pictures are here of 16 june 1984 when the KLu said goodbye to the Starfighter at Volkel. I used to live in a place where at those days the practice run for this mass flyby would fly over and it was VERY impressive indeed - in stereo and visual!!!!!! We used to go 60 km by bike to Volkel just for the Staf's in those days - and at the end of the day 60 again to get back home. So it brings back good memories of days gone bye. We've all evolved into the Digi-era by now, but this pic here - although not the very best in quality... - to me is something like a symbol of what is was like to see the planes in those days!! It was not just seeing them, it was a world-journey to get there that you carried out together with your friends and you would experience the whole thing together! After 26 years, it still gives me great pleasure to see them, both the friends and the planes but hey.....no more one-o-four anymore.
Once again: GREAT thread!!!!!
Greetz,
ICS

OK, I've tried to restrain myself from placing some pictures here, but then again... why not
The quality of my scanprocessing could still be improved upon, though...

02 Fairford, IAT'85 (slidescan):
03 Alconbury 1985 (slidescan):
04 First pass behind the spotters at Volkel 1984:
05 Second pass overhead (or between) the spotters at Volkel 1984:
06 Cheating, but everyone can do it in a flight simulator these days (in this case FS2004 on an old computer):

Nice ones, Heron. The Alconbury ones look hauntingly familiar
All good things must come to an end and in Italy the Arriverdeci Spillone show was at Pratica di Mare in may 2004. I scored a lot, a.o. these:
Hans.

Re: 104's
On delivery flight from Volkel to Turkey, but it didn't go further than the soil in southern German, ~1 hour after this photo was made.......
As the number is not readable, I assume it is the D-8308.
(Volkel, 09 november 1981, high ISO values due to lack of light that morning)
