SANICOLE Airshow 2021

Post by BaasG »

https://www.sanicole.com/en/best-wishes ... show-2021/
Our team has not been idle these past few months and we have been hard at work for the 2021 Sanicole Airshow which will take place from 10 until 12 September. This will be an edition that may still look a little different than the previous 41, but we are convinced we have come up with a setup that ensures another top edition, in all safety. Of course, we will let you know the details soon, but I can already tell you that this year, we will have three airshow days (Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday), to spread the expected number of visitors over three rather than two days, while retaining a spottersday at Kleine-Brogel.

Swiss F-18 and Patrouille Suisse
The 42nd International Airshow is working with 31 squadron at Kleine-Brogel this year, which is holding the Ext-ROAR-dinary NATO Tigermeet in September. The Swiss air force will take part at our airshow with two displays that fit in well with this theme.

First of all, the Swiss air force F-18 solo display team of the 11 Tiger squadron at the airbase Payerne will show once again why their motto is ‘No angle of attack limits’ in a stunning display of extraordinary agility of their powerful frontline fighter. This display with non-stop action will show you why the F-18 is still the tip of the spear with so many airforces thanks to numerous upgrades that keep it at the cutting edge of jet performance.

The most famous Swiss air force display team Patrouille Suisse is not a member of the NATO Tiger Association but they do fly brightly-coloured 6 F-5 Tiger IIs, nimble aircraft that are also still in use to provide air defence in the Alps. The team, adorned with a gorgeous red and white paintscheme, will stun you once again with its unbelievable precision and loud jet engine noise throughout elegant formations and breath-taking synchronized manoeuvres.

Czech Mi-17, Mi-24 and W-3

https://www.sanicole.com/en/strong-down ... anicole-2/
The Czech airforce will bring an unique collection of helicopters to Sanicole, displaying all its currently active combat types over our airfield.

First of all, they will perform a simulated Combat Search & Rescue mission with two icons from the Cold War, the Mi-17 transport helicopter and the Mi-24. These helicopters are part of 221 squadron based at Namest in the south of the country and are members of the NATO Tiger Association.

Completing the Czech air force line-up is a very rare display outside its border of a little-known helicopter, the Polish-built W-3 Sokol which will surprise you with its stunning agility in a search & rescue demonstration.

Today we heard with great sadness the loss of Don Verhees. Don was a retired Colonel of the US Air Force, but the aviation and airshow world knows Don as a Tiger and a friend and in addition to us a true Sanicole ambassador.

Our next airshow will be a Tiger airshow, because in September we will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Nato Tiger Association, the 70th anniversary of the 31 Tiger Squadron and ... we would be celebrating Don's 80th anniversary.

Sadly he is not given the opportunity to celebrate this together with us, but Don, we will honour you in September and we are convinced you are looking over our shoulder as our guardian tiger. Have a safe last flight and we will miss you! Tiger Tiger Tiger !

...the original announcement:

https://www.sanicole.com/en/e-2c-hawkeye/
Detecting airborne targets and vectoring friendly aircraft to intercept, that is the task of this rare Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AWACS). In the past we have already welcomed the giant E-3 Sentry, but the French navy also has a smaller but equally capable aircraft that performs this function to use aboard its carrier, the E-2C Hawkeye.

This modernized twin turboprop with enormous radar dome on top of the fuselage helps protecting the fleet from threats and assists others to perform their missions. The French Hawkeye that is coming to Sanicole is part of 4 flotille based at Lorient. While this unit does not have tiger in its crest, it retained its tiger heritage thanks to operations from the French carrier Clemenceau, which had a tiger in its logo.

Don’t miss the premiere of this very rare aircraft at Sanicole in September 2021.
...not much chance this Grumman appearing in a static display at Sanicole Hechtel Leopoldsburg/Beverlo.
Runway is at most 600 metres.

So it is at least a "fly over".
In the recent past French Hawkeyes did fly at La Ferte Alais airshows.

...and yes, it will look slightly different than you are used to.

But the show will never have to compromise on safety, quality or entertainment.
The maximum number of spectators per event day is limited to 7,500.

That is why we plan an extra event day on Saturday 11 September,
so that 22,500 visitors can enjoy our flying spectacle this year.

The programme on Saturday and Sunday will be mostly identical,
but The evening show will of course provide the necessary special effects
and will be opened by none other than the legendary Royal Air Force Red Arrows.

At this point,
we also assume that our show will be fully seated this year.

Visitors will no longer be able to freely choose a spot on our grassy meadow,
but will be assigned a permanent seat in one of our visitor sections.

All catering and sanitary facilities will also be present within this section,
to facilitate your visit as much as possible.

Of course, a fixed seat does not mean that we chain you to a chair the entire day.

It goes without saying that you will have the freedom to view our static,
visit the many sales stands with aviation attributes
or let your kids have fun on the various attractions of our kids zone,
but it will all be done safely
with attention and respect for social distancing and of course for each other.
