USMC KC-130J IFE landing and F-35 crash after midair Sep 29, 2020

A USMC KC-130J (Raider 50) made a forced landing in a field short of the runway of Thermal Airport, CA after a midair with a F-35 (Pull 93) during A-A refueling in the Kane West MOA. The crew of the KC-130J reported the midair collision to LA CTR and stated no 3 and 4 engines were out. All crew members onboard the C-130 are safe. The F-35 crashed but the pilot ejected safely and was transported to a local hospital by an UH-60 Blackhawk.

KC-130J is reported to have been: 166765/QB.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA, Ariz. (Sep. 29, 2020) —
At approximately 1600 it was reported that an F-35B made contact with a KC-130J during an air-to-air refueling evolution, resulting in the crash of the F-35B. The pilot of the F-35B ejected successfully and is currently being treated.

The KC-130J is on deck in the vicinity of Thermal Airport. All crew members of the KC-130J have been reported safe.
