As a direct result, the Finnish F/A-18 solo display has won countless awards at airshows across Europe.

The pilot and aircraft are based in the scenic Lapland region and are tasked with the defence of the vast Finnish airspace.

Beste vliegshowliefhebbers,


Met veel ontzag hebben wij de afgelopen weken en dagen de media gevolgd. Iedereen, maar zeker niet in het minst onze provincie Limburg gaat door een zeer zware periode. We hebben dan ook binnen onze organisatie het mogelijke doorgaan van onze vliegshow in 2020 intensief besproken en met zeer veel pijn in het hart moet ik jullie meedelen dat wij unaniem de beslissing genomen hebben om de 42e International Sanicole Airshow dit jaar te annuleren en uit te stellen naar 10 & 12 september 2021.

Sanicole is een familie-organisatie, door en voor families. Veiligheid op de grond en in de lucht is altijd onze absolute topprioriteit geweest, maar deze veiligheid heeft sinds COVID-19 voor ons nog een bijkomende dimensie gekregen en wij kunnen niet anders dan onze maatschappelijke verantwoordelijkheid hierin op te nemen.

Onze voortrekkersrol als evenement in noodplanning en medische hulpverlening betekent dat wij al jarenlang een beroep kunnen doen op een hele grote groep medische topprofessionals die naast hun job zich belangeloos engageren om ons evenement te ondersteunen en mogelijk te maken. Deze medische tak van onze Sanicole familie staat momenteel onder zeer zware druk in de verschillende zorgcentra en ziekenhuizen binnen en buiten onze provincie waar zij werkzaam zijn. Ook al lijkt september nog heel ver weg, wij beseffen dat ook de komende maanden voor hen een enorm zware periode zal blijven. Het is dan ook niet opportuun om in het najaar dan nog een extra engagement van hen te vragen in functie van de International Sanicole Airshow.

Sanicole is een internationaal evenement met jaarlijks meer dan 40.000 bezoekers. Ongeveer 35% van deze bezoekers komen uit het buitenland, maar daarnaast hebben wij een programma dat alle gezinsleden boeit, zowel jong als oud. Het lijkt ons dan ook evident dat in de gegeven omstandigheden deze mix op deze grote schaal op een beperkte oppervlakte samen te brengen, zelfs in het najaar, geen optie is.

Wij zullen als Sanicole familie al die vrijwilligers en zorgverstrekkers die zich inzetten voor anderen blijven steunen in deze moeilijke periode en hopen dat iedereen zijn uiterste best doet om hier samen zo snel mogelijk en sterker uit te komen.

Op 10 & 12 september 2021 tekenen wij terug present en zullen we jullie opnieuw overladen met bulderende naverbranders, sierlijke aerobatics en al het mooie wat de luchtvaart te bieden heeft, maar voor nu: hou het veilig en gezond!

DIGITAL SANICOLE AIRSHOW

At the beginning of the lock-down we already announced that we would cancel International Sanicole Airshow this year because of COVID-19. We are very sorry that you have to miss our spectacle in the air this year and therefore we have a surprise. Sanicole will organize the Digital Sanicole Airshow on Friday evening September 11th, the original date of our evening show.

Together with the very best pilots and teams from all over the world, Sanicole will broadcast an air show over the internet. We will take you behind the scenes of the airshow world and the Sanicole Airshow with recordings of the most spectacular demonstrations, unique on-board footage, interviews with pilots and images from the Sanicole archive. The typical airshow footage will be complemented by some reports of unique historical and modern aircraft that we will visit at their home base. In this way we will still get our pilots with you, in their living room.

But it's not just a show. Sanicole is a family organisation, by and for families and safety is always our absolute top priority. With the support of a very large group of top medical professionals and experts in crisis management, Sanicole has developed into an event with a pioneering role in emergency planning and medical assistance. Pursuant to COVID-19, the medical branch of our Sanicole family has been under very heavy pressure for a long time in the various care centres and hospitals where they work.

That is why this air show is dedicated to them and the integral proceeds of this project will be donated to several organizations that are committed to post-traumatic stress treatment of relief and care workers.
