Re: Frisian Flag in 2020
Other than Red Flag,
Early Feb, 207Sq to deploy on HMS QE with 3 aircraft.
HMS QE doing more exercises in April & June but list doesn’t mention any aircraft involvement (guess u never know),
Already listed on SIS pages is exercise Crimson Flag at Marham involving USMC F-35B’s,
Hopefully another year soon for Frisian Flag!

Re: Frisian Flag in 2020
Sorry, partially n French
The Task Force 473 built around the French carrier Charles de Gaulle is going to take part to Frisian Flag after a one month deployment in the Mediterranean Sea. She left the port of Toulon on Tuesday.

In this light, for me personally the most relevant question would be: will they operate from the carrier, or from the airbase?Belgaviation wrote:Sorry, partially n French

And were will it drop it's anchor? And will it be in the harbour before, during or after FF? And if so, wich harbour?Polleke_NL wrote:In this light, for me personally the most relevant question would be: will they operate from the carrier, or from the airbase?Belgaviation wrote:Sorry, partially n French

Re: Frisian Flag in 2020
The french part of the post by belgaviation suggests the aircraft carrier and its Taskforce itself are actively participating in FF. That would mean the Rafales operate from the carrier. That’s not to say they might not turn up in the Leeuwarden approach occasionally though...

Re: Frisian Flag in 2020
Fun as always, but for some it's sort of necessary to know in order to define whether or not it's worth while to take a day off and plan the trip or not. After all, the majority of the gathering crowd does not reside near Leeuwarden, nor do they enjoy an unlimited number of days off to spend.....frank kramer wrote:Don’t you just love the anticipation.. two months to go before everything is revealed!

True, and the same goes for me, but then again, if you remember the pre-internet-days...
Oh well, back to topic before I get too nostalgic

Yes it definately will drop it’s anchor at some stage, it will be in port both before and after FF but no idea which one. Most likely Brest at some stage!Rabbit wrote:And were will it drop it's anchor? And will it be in the harbour before, during or after FF? Why there? It could also be Amsterdam or Rotterdam.Paul van der Linden wrote: Yes it definately will drop it’s anchor at some stage, it will be in port both before and after FF but no idea which one. Most likely Brest at some stage!
Naval base Den Helder is out of limits. Draught of the carrier is 9,43 mtrs, while the max. draught for Naval base Den Helder still is around 9 mtrs.
Another option, if anyway wanted, would be Texel Roads.

From the marineschepen article: Eind maart meert de taakgroep af in Kopenhagen en half april in Lissabon. (ships will dock end of march in Copenhagen and in april in Lissabon)Rockville wrote:Why there? As far I know, nuclear-powered ships aren't allowed to dock in The Netherlands
