Sweden / Finland spotting experience ?
Hi there, I am planing to go to Norway/Sweden/Finland next year. Has someone any experience in spotting at Sweden & Finland in general. In particular, are there spots to either spot or photograph planes at Lulea and Rovaniemi from the outside? Thanks for any Information.

Hi
To enjoy a Numbers only experience.. views from around the Terminals of both airfields will suffice for reading the Flightlines
Kallax has a cycle path on one end of the runway & a lay-by ( road to waste disposal site ) which is ok for parking & viewing .
Police interference is minimal with Prudent spotting Actions .
Tech School & Base museum @ Kallax will give a few extra numbers

Rovaniemi: Perfect options. There is an emergency stair on the right hand site facing the terminal you can use. Also the parking lot on the right hand site of the terminal you can use. We were there during Arctic Fighter Meet and had no issues with the local police since it is low season in summer in RVN. I also saw landing shots taken by the locals, but as I was with family, we only stayed near the terminal. Activity I do not know, but during the AFM they flew 1hr flight, 1 hr ground, 1hr flight, 1hr ground per aircraft. In average we had 30mins no mil movements.
Tikkakoski is very easy. Both runway ends are open and accessible. The north side by dirt road, south side by concrete. We had police visiting 2x in 30min, but they only drive by, most likely alarmed by touching the fences.
Ivalo: a no go in summer. Even the terminal is shut and opens only 2hrs before a flight arrives.
Kilpisjarvi: There is a small heliport here.
Helsinki is a nightmare. They keep changing runways all the time with extreme high fencing.
Honningsvag: 'low' fences around the terminal, high fences a bit further from the terminal
Lakselv: The mil platform is very difficult to have a look at due to elevation.
Alta: we stayed around the terminal, but the fences are extreme high here.
Tromso: nice airport. Lots of movements, friendly people and some nice elevation to shoot on finals over the fence.
Keep in mind that the further up north, the higher the fences become due to moose I guess. The highest fences I came across were serious ladders. Not enough for 5 stairs. Estimated height 3/3.5m.
