16APR19: Luftwaffe Global incident in SXF

According to press-reports a Global 5000 of the Luftwaffe suffered a runway excursion in Berlin-Schönefeld this morning.
No further details known at this stage.

A bad quality photo in the press shows that 14+01 could be the aircraft involved.

According to https://twitter.com/Team_Luftwaffe/stat ... 8239564800 the aircraft returned after take-off, due to a malfunction.
During landing both wings hit the ground.

Apparently the aircraft was supposed to return to Köln-Bonn, after maintenance in Schönefeld, when the problem occurred.

14+01 was declared DBR.
In other words: an economical write off!

A replacement is already test-flying in Canada. C/n 9859 will be 14+05.

For those who may not understand German,

An extract from the above,

Der Ankauf von drei Flugzeugen vom Typ Bombardier Global 6000

Translates as

The purchase of three Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft

So 14+05 to 14+07 to come.

Despite the Bundeswehr being generally starved of funds, funding for new equipment for the FBS BMVg seems to be no problem.

These aircraft (and the A350’s) were being paid for by other departments, not by defence. This way, they want to relieve the defence budget.
