LOG NAS Lemoore 23-03-2018
Hi there,
Cost me some time to sort out our log from last Friday. We saw a total of 180+ hornets, of which the below were identified. So so many in the big hangars were seen, but not IDd! What a huge base, and a lot of flying. Beginning of April 3 squadrons will depart to ship(s) and 3 will return home.
All serials straight from the camera. So a lot of codes I just noticed partially. Any help, updates is more then welcome. As this comes straight from excel, I hope the format stays ok a bit. Here as well, all serials, codes are on picture.
The 8 Marines hornets were on tdy for couple of weeks. A number of other Miramar ones were / are currently at Fallon.
The base currently has 10 F-35s. We though counted 7 of them and saw 3 flying, but I missed one

Could you confirm if 166982 is NJ106 or NH106? You have 165673 as NJ106.

Thanks for these useful notes.
/NJ-151 was 165924 in Mar18, not 166... .
Makes me suspect /NJ-152 might also have a 5, not a 6, as its third digit.

How are photo opportunities from the outside?
Re: LOG NAS Lemoore 23-03-2018
They are doing a meeting in september but they have some "difficulties" to give a program. For the moment, it's veeerrrrryyyyy poor.
Hope it will change shortly.

I don't agree.... Reeves blvd is open to public en goes quite close along the western runway. Morning views and pictures should be not bad if you go to that monument (which is at the beginning of the runway).pjotrtje wrote:Virtually non-existant...Tigerspoon wrote:How are photo opportunities from the outside?
At least this was the situation back in 2018, but I was on base, so don't have pictures from that position (but we drove on that road ourselves).

Re: LOG NAS Lemoore 23-03-2018
I guess you didn’t stop there and took pictures...? You are right, it is open to the public when taking the bypass. But you will be met with a lot ( ! ) of security checking you out, very often...Oscar01 wrote:I don't agree.... Reeves blvd is open to public en goes quite close along the western runway. If anything, the west side of the west runway has roads leading up to the fence. You are on a farmer’s land, but you will be able to see and shoot from there.
As I said, ‘virtually non-existant’, not ‘impossible’ but there are much better places picture-wise. But I can’t speak for Tigerspoon’s requirements. @Tigerspoon: Did you try getting on base?

Re: LOG NAS Lemoore 23-03-2018
At least there were a lot of locals just standing and watching planes from that monument. I agree, picturewise it's not the best, but for numbers, if they use that runway, it's very good....
And you are correct, we cannot speak for others.
If you wanna try on base, I believe they have now stopped individual tours (if you go through PAO), and do a tour / option every quarter (at least that was the plan last year). Always worth trying to get on base.
