The first visit of KC-46A / B.767-2 (15-46005)/N842BA in Europe landed this afternoon at Ramstein AB. Unfortunately in bad weather.
The KC-46A flew from Elmendorf, AK to Ramstein AB, Germany.
KC-46A L/N 1091, C/N41852

Re: KC-46A Visit Ramstein AB
Strange that this is the newest aircraft type in the USAF inventory. The basic shape of the 767 looks rather outdated to me, being around in the civil scene for so many years already.

It's a shame they bought this ugly, outdated aircraft.

A330MRTT isn't American, so they don't like itBuccaneer S.2B wrote:It's a shame they bought this ugly, outdated aircraft.

Ideas for KC-767 (now KC-46) started before A330MRTT was even introduced. Fuselage may be "old fashioned" design, it's a completely new aircraft. Plus indeed, the A330 ain't AmericanBuccaneer S.2B wrote:It's a shame they bought this ugly, outdated aircraft.

Indeed. And the original contest was won by Boeing, so... Airbus objected, won the second one. Then Boeing objected, the process was re-done again, was completely unbiased now, then Boeing won. It’s a close call every time. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.Boudewijn van Oirschot wrote:Ideas for KC-767 (now KC-46) started before A330MRTT was even introduced.
