UH-60Ms at Wiesbaden
I have not seen this mentioned before.
On ADS-B and PP, over the last few weeks, I have noted 6x UH-60Ms operating in the Wiesbaden area under "DUKE" callsigns. I have been told that A/1-214th AVN is re-equipping.
Noted so far have been:-
[AE50D4] = (09)-20276?? ......only noted once on 27-MAR-2018 as DUKE34 - but could this be a temporary miscode for [AE5AD4]?
[AE5AC7] = 15-20741.............last noted on 17-APR-2018 as DUKE53
[AE5AC9] = 15-20743.............last noted on 18-APR-2018 as DUKE34
[AE5ACA] = 15-20744.............last noted on 12-APR-2018 as DUKE63
[AE5ACB] = 15-20745.............last noted on 17-APR-2018 as DUKE32
[AE5AD4] = 15-20754.............last noted on 19-APR-2018 as DUKE23
Have any more been noted as yet, please?
Also, have any of the UH-60As been returned to CONUS as yet and, if so, which ones, please?
Thanks and Regards,
Bob

Re: UH-60Ms at Wiesbaden
Hi Paul,
The final two Blackhawks to arrive at Rotterdam port for shipment to CONUS with 10th CAB were 89-26142 and 89-26165. They arrived in the port on 3 November 2017, and were heading for CCAD at NAS Corpus Christi (TX). Both are UH-60A+, and indeed ex A/1-214th AVN from Wiesbaden AAF (Germany).
Concerning the UH-60M deliveries to A/1-214th AVN at Wiesbaden AAF, and the returning UH-60A/L helicopters, this are the details.
C-17A 07-7169 436th AW, arr 07mar18, dep 08mar18
Del UH-60M 15-20742 15-20743 and 15-20754
Returned to CONUS: 87-24583 (UH-60A+), 87-24642 (UH-60A+) and 93-26485 (UH-60L)
C-17A 97-0042 155th AS TN ANG, arr 25mar18, dep 26mar18
Del UH-60M 09-20276, 15-20744, 15-20745
Returned to CONUS: 86-24538, 88-26027 and 88-26071 (all UH-60A+)
C-17A 09-9206 437th AW, arr 16apr18, dep 17apr18
Del UH-60M 09-20272 and (09?)-20314
Returned to CONUS: 87-24589 (UH-60A+) and 87-24643 (UH-60A+)
C-17A 02-1107 62nd AW, arr 26apr18, dep 27apr18
Del UH-60M 09-20245 and (09?)-20311
Returned to CONUS: 87-24584 (UH-60A+) and 96-26718 (UH-60L)
Of the returned Blackhawks 86-24538, 87-24583, 87-24642, 88-26027 and 88-26071 were all allocated to the BEST program at Huntsville (AL) and offered for sale to US Government Agencies on 12 April 2018.
The plan was to equip A/1-214th AVN with ten UH-60M helicopters, so all deliveries seem to be complete now.

Anyone for the Hexcode [0020CC]?
Re: UH-60Ms at Wiesbaden
20742 is a small mistake and should read 20741 !!

Re: UH-60Ms at Wiesbaden
AE5AC8 hasn't been logged in Wiesbaden area.
AE50E2 was logged on May 2nd (Duke23) with helicopter speed and altitude.
Looking at known hex codes this airframe might be 20311, but yet has to been confirmed (as stated in previous posts).

How about spotting at Wiesbaden?
Are the spottingpoints in the scramble airfieldguide still up to date?
And how is the security?

On Tuesday 29th May 11 UH-60M? were noted here. 6 on the ramp (including 20744) and the other 5 in the hangars-all of which were open. Heatwaves and light precluded identifying any further Black Hawks, none of which flew.
Deployed UC-12s 94-00317 and 10-00259 and deployed UC-35s 03-00016 and 03-00726 were also seen.

I can give you some closer info.mirage 69 wrote:How about spotting at Wiesbaden?

Spotting arround Wiesbaden is allowed but be really really carefull on where you point your camera.
Never aim your camera near or towards the tower or inside the platform/airbase.
There is such a strict protocol there and the tention on security cars is very high. Also the german police patrol the area. Wiesbaden is known for arresting people or taking your photo gear for closer inspection.
I've visted couple weeks ago Wiesbaden air base with my buddy from the KLu. We stood in the landing of the airstrip and the blackhawk's came very low. We made some very nice pictures. But the whole day long there was a patrol car watching us.
Always coorporate with authorities when the ask questions, remain calm and answer their questions. Tips for the Dutch spotters as scanners is allowed in Holland we tent to have the feeling of bringing them with you. One advice.... don't bring them with you. (Personal experience, free advise, take it and doe er je voordeel mee).
But why not take the tour to Spangdahlem. Or visit some German fields. Wiesbaden is nice.. but regarding the whole security... better to visit another base.
