On October 22nd, 2017 there was a PZL-104 Wilga with the following markings 'W-66-S70-J'.

Any idea about its real identity ?

Thanks

Good afternoon,

Did some logging from outside, last Saturday.
Beside the Wilga and the fuselage of Metroliner PH-NLZ also a German Mi24 ("Gefahr" titles on the tailboom) was seen, alongside the former showroom.
According to the neighbour it only arrived very recently.
Anyone for it's ID?
At the back four Lynx helicopters could be seen, while one is still placed upon a container at the back of the forner showroom.
This one is often stated as being XZ176, is this correct? And maybe anyone for the ID's of the other four Lynx helicopters?

At Kessel three 104's, the Voodoo and a fusleage part of Fokker 50 SX-BRV were seen.

Piet received seven Lynx AH.7s from the UK if I'm right, being XZ176, XZ182, XZ641, XZ669, ZD273 (with tailboom of XZ680), ZD277 and ZD282. Of these XZ176 moved on to Wieringerwerf and XZ641 moved on to a (for me still) unknown location. The others should be the ones you saw. I'm not sure about which one is on the container by the way.

From where did you see the four stored ones? I still need ZD277, and from the parking lot of the neighbour supermarket we only managed to see on e of the line of four ... :-(

A picture of the German Hind was posted on Facebook (I'm not a member, but got it forwarded). The serial is 96+4x, and the x looks like something round. That would mean it could be 0, 3, 5, 6 or 8. My money would be on 96+48, a former German one that went to Hungary but never made it into operational service. Some of those are being disposed of at the moment. But no guarantees of course.

Hi Patrick,

when we were there with EWAS in May 2017, there were 5 Lynxes in a row; when seen from the front they were positively identified from right to left (ZD273)/XZ680/E (Army); ZD277/U (Royal Marines)(marked as 'XZ277' on the nose with a felt pen); XZ182 (Army); XZ669/I (Army); ZD282 (Royal Marines). There was a sixth one on concrete blocks between the sheds; this is alternately being reported as either (XZ176) of (XZ641). It had Army titles. If it is certain that XZ176 is at Wieringerwerf it MUST be XZ641 as XZ176 had already left Baarlo in may 2017.. Also, checking my pictures more carefully, the letter 'A' can still be seen vaguely on the 6th Lynx on the blocks, making it a perfect match for XZ641.

But of course (Piet being Piet) it is perfectly possible that (XZ641) was dismounted from the concrete blocks later in the year and moved on, being replaced by one from the line of five...

You forget one more round number: 9. It’s 96+49 ex Bückeburg.

Erm, they're not being disposed of. Some, including 96+48, are going for overhaul and return to service....
I think 96+49, for sale from Buckeburg in September.

Yes, 100% sure.

Besides that, the 98+06 is leaving Baarlo in the next weeks, it is sold and his new destination is Germany.
Do we know in the meanwhile where the Tornado was going?

Autsj..... I indeed forgot about that one.

Some of them are, but also some are being disposed of. There is one that went to a private collector or group of collectors (don't know the serial from memory unfortunately). Luckily indeed some are being upgraded after all, as has been reported on the messageboard. I did see the posts with serials, but didn't look up whether 96+48 was part of that batch....

OK, so my notes that XZ641 has left seem to be wrong. But that means one of the other five has left, and I don't know which four are still present. Any confirmation from an actual "base visit" would be very welcome.

@ Buccaneer S.2B: I am still very interested in the spot you saw that row of four from.

Hi Patrick,

Saw it from the right side of the parking place, looking along the ex NVA Su22. The are parked left of the F-4C/Wilga.
I even have a (poor quality) picture of the line of four, I don't know how to upload pictures
but if you would like to see the picture please send me a pm.

Good morning,

Thanks to Frank Kramer the row of Lynxes was identified. First of all there turned out to be five instead of, the fifth hiding behind the Su22.
On my picture it can be seen (just).
From left to right:

ZD282 Royal Marines
XZ669/I Army
XZ182 Army
ZD277/U Army
(ZD273)/E Royal Marines, with the tail of the XZ680

Happy hunting in 2018 !

Hmm, the build number of the Lynx fitted with the boom of XZ680 has been checked as TO32.
This would make it XZ176....

Oh dear. All I can say is that I could not find a build number, but the front part of the offending Lynx had ZD273 both inside the cockpit on a frame and on the outside on the nose; it also has the code E which tallies with pictures of the airframe when it was still in the UK. And it did indeed have the boom of XZ680. Picture searches on the internet reveal that when XZ176 was (still) at Baarlo, it did not have a code on the door, had its correct registration on the tail AND nose and had a round thing (antenna? hatch?) missing from the nose whcih THIS airframe still has attached. Pictures also show that somewhere prior to the end of 2011, its "A" coded door(s) was/were replaced by spare one(s) coded "E".

Apparently, Lynx XZ669/I has moved on to Weeze Airport (aka the former RAF Laarbruch), as it was noted there recently:
