Àre there any flying activities during weekends on the above mentioned fields?

NAS North Island is open and there are some visitors during the weekend. In januari I briefly visited on the saturday and the sunday and both days I had multiple movements. But guessing it is hit and mis......you need to be lucky.

Indeed numerous cross-country movements over the weekend at North Island. However, on the weekend day we were there they were using runway 36 coming in over the sea rather than 29 which approach runs over the beach. No idea if it was bad luck or that it was some kind of noise measure or something. However, 29 was used for take-offs.

Is there any good spot for RWY36?
29 looks "almost" perfect from the beach site.

29 is great but I guess that a boat is the only possibility for 36! Unfortunately the beach is off limits beyond the 29 approach.

El Centro: when there is a unit stationed for a period, they will fly on the Saturday. Flying starts around 07.30 until appr. 15.00 Saturday is also often used as an arrival day.Tigerspoon wrote:Okay that is something i can work with.

Yuma: almost always some flying activity going on here during the weekend, Saturday as Sunday. Some weekend more luck then others.
Phoenix Mesa: Some traffic on Friday & Saturday. Mostly gone by Sunday morning, or early noon.

Charles

Thank you very much. As Fencecheck was closed down, are there any other reliable sources, to check upon arrival for activities e.g. at El Centro!?
Re: NAS North Island + Point Mugu
During WTI at Yuma (October and April), they definately fly during weekends.... El Centro indeed starts early on Saturdays, when we arrived by 08.00 the first ones came back from mission.

Re: NAS North Island + Point Mugu
will there be something tdy at El Centro next week?
Re: NAS North Island + Point Mugu
I am not sure next week but during Oct T-45 from Meridian are TDY (so maybe they are already there). Last year Marines Hornets were stationed at EL Centro during WTI but that is not always common.wweasel wrote:will there be something tdy at El Centro next week?
El centro is alway a stop worthy.....

Re: NAS North Island + Point Mugu
Thanks Marco, we will check next week.
Re: NAS North Island + Point Mugu
At North Island rwy36 is totally off limits (by boat or whatever). While in Phoenix, check Williams Gateway airport. Very often visits in weekends.
