Awesome stuff!
Do you have a full list of borts for the Mi-8s etc please? (or more photos).
I had no idea they had so many Hueys!

Re: Spotting at UGTB Tbilisi, Georgia
Yes there definitely was a section of the airfield I wasn't able to get to that had some more Mi-8/17s and a few unknown civilian jets. Sadly none of them moved, and I didn't ever end up in a position to get any photos of them.Stratofreighter wrote:...some sort of "corrosion corner" in the background of the picture of the Georgian Embraer 190 4L-TGV

Yes the Mi-14 was the highlight of the trip! Albeit defunct now, it was an amazing and welcome find!

White 08
From the Mi-8s I have:
Blue 07
Blue 08
Blue 09
Blue 19
Blue 41
Blue 42
Blue 45
Blue 49
Blue 51
And Mi-17s:
Red 02 (Georgian Police)
Blue 32 (Georgian Police)
White 33 (Georgian Police)
White 34 (Georgian Police)
I am not sure if the old Mi-8s in the boneyard are old Police airframes, or military. There are no markings one way or the other. It is fully possible that the current police Mi-17 airframes were former military airframes that were replaced by the Hueys years ago.
The funny part was finding the hanger full of UH-1Hs. Most were marked as Georgian military, but some, assumedly parts birds, were still marked as US Army. I assume most were transfered to the Georgian Gov't sometime after the Vietnam War.
Oh and to make things even worse, there was a line of no less than 5 Mi-2s that were behind a wall, I never go to see them up close!! Oh the shame!!

Thanks!
The nine Mi-8s were all the stored ones, yes?
Could you identify any Hueys?

Some of the Hueys still had their US Registration numbers on them, but I was only able to get just a few
64-13739 Georgian "81"
74-22444 Georgian "24"
74-224?? Georgian "27"
those were the only ones I was able to get any info of

Re: Spotting at UGTB Tbilisi, Georgia
Most of these Hueys are ex USAREUR ones.
Some off these where in service with the Vicenza based 6 AVN.CO until late 1999 , early 2000.
After the unit was deactivated theire UH-1H's where sent to Coleman Barracks AAF for storage. After some years in storage with the based maintenance unit at Coleman Barracks AAF some off these UH-1H's where overhauled etc and sold or donated to the Georgian AF
Some of these UH-1H's where seen multiple times during visitis to Coleman Barracks AAF by spotters.
I can't check my logbooks at the moment as i'am not at home.
I believe these are some off the ex USAREUR Hueys which where deliverd to Georgia :
74-22444 ex 6 AVN.CO Vicenza
74-22496 ex 6 AVN.CO Vicenza
74-22337 ex 6 VAN.CO Vicenza
74-22368 ex HQ flt Stuttgart Echterdingen AAF is also reported as sold / donated to Georgia i can't confirm if this realy happend.
There are more ex USAREUR UH-1H's deliverd to Georgia but as i say i can't check my books at the moment.
I believe some if not all off these ex USAREUR UH-1H's
Where flown from Coleman Barracks AAF to Ramstein Airbase from where they where deliverd by airfreight to Georgia
Regards

AS15U,
A couple more questions please:
What was the identity of the red An-2 you photographed?
What were the identities of the An-28s you photographed?
Thanks
