This could not happen! 7 Eufis at Wittmund, 2 plus 2 spare for the Austrian QRA at any one time plus 4-5 in maintenance. How many Austrian Eufis should still be available???

I agree that it seems unlikely that they will be replaced by 8 other aircraft due to maintenance etc. However, I was told that they alternate QRA duties with Linz so Linz is probably on QRA during the deployment of the Typhoons.

I think they only have a limited number of pilots for the Typhoons (10-18?) and, considering the number of sorties flown, I think the majority is currently at Wittmund amassing a fair amount of flying hours over the past two weeks!

Correct. And 2 more just followed (WD + WJ) as AF11. Live from the fence. Swap or exercise ended? No transport yet except for a lot of trucks leaving the base as well, loaded with equipment. Couldn't make out the licence plates though..

Austrian Air Force 13 now clear to taxi, WG & WH, destination Zeltweg, another flight of 2.. Looks like they're done up here? 3+2+2 = all 7 back home. Strange they didn't go back before the weekend..

Edit: a 2nd Skyhawk loaded with practice bombs just departed for Baumholder, 1st one returned empty 15:30.

Like last year, the Eufies stay in their shelters/hangars at Wittmund. Its holiday time!

Only the Skyhawks will probably move to Fassberg, like last year
