And idea as well where to park your car? Any shuttles or?
How does the flight line look line? Does anyone has any more information for me, Thanks in advance.
The traffic from the North was gridlocked today. Try the off base parking to the South East of the base, approaching via the village of Teverem and then follow the Nato Air Base signposts from where you get routed to off base parking. It's a bit of a walk but still better than the traffic on the North side. Hope you have better weather as well :)

ETNG just posted following message at their Facebook page:

Access to NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen during Open Days

Today people experienced issues getting access to base. After notifying the organization inmediately acted correspondently. After this the situation improved rapidly.

Tomorrow extra measurements will be taken to ensure everybody accessing the base normally.

Your and our safety is our main concern.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks guys. After reading all your replies.. and I just read the comment on FB from the NATO E-3 Component.. and with the Tour de France... I don't think it's gonna be better.

So the two tickets... are in the shredder as we speak. For me it's 2.5 hour driving.. then 4 hour waiting time for secrity checks..
Glad I only paid 8 euro's a ticket...

Thanks again guys for sharing your feedback with you... it spared me many many waiting hours of my wonderfull free sunday.

I've been on the base too today. Arrived at 9.20 am in the line before the entrance. At about 10.00 the traffic started to move. Parked at 10.35. At 11.35 passed security checks. Everyone is searched. No water bottles allowed in. While standing in the line for security checks extra lines were added.
I don't understand how this mess was possible, because it was known how many tickets were sold. How difficult is it to adapt the number of personnel.
An unpleasent surprise was that at leaving the base for every car €4 had to paid. I haven't read that on the ticket. :(

Is that a problem? Are we allowed then to access the base?

Four E-3A parked in a line on the RWY, so it´s a big problem for other aircraft dep or arr.
Missed the CH-53 fuselage but i found a Tornado cockpit from 45+60.

8 € for the ticket, 4 € for car park = 12 € for me it´s ok, i saw :
- 2 x F-4 HAF
- G550AEW Italian AF
- MiG-29 PolAF
- Su-22 PolAF
- C-27 Romainan AF
- 2x F-2000 AMI
and many many more nice aircraft.

Car park and security check not the best but a very good static show :respect:

Yes, that is a problem. You have to have them. While on the base heading for the parking area you are stopped to check if you have tickets. Maybe there is a slight chance you can obtain tickets. But why don't you buy them on the website? http://www.35jahre-nato-awacs.de/bestel-uw-e-tickets

No you don't have to have them. Yesterday they were selling tickets at the entrance.

Well, learn your lessons out of it and be very, very early at the RIAT if you want to avoid long lines.

I was at the gate around 09.30. After opening at 10 o'clock only tickets were checked. We entered the static at the fence near the KDC-10, Italian F-2000's, etc. around 10.10. No single check. :-)
I guess they forgot to close that gate, because the moment we left that fence was closed ans there was just one entry at an other location where bags were checked with a looooooon queue....

So. I wish you luck with entring the base. It will take a while ;-)

But nice static!!!

Hi Marcel,
Thanks for the correction. My little apprentice (son) was calling them out and I wrote them down.
