Accros the road from Anchorage Int Airport is Lake Hood. This lake has room for waterplanes and there also is a small runway.
It is home to hundreds and hundreds of small airplanes, mainly Cessna's and Piper's both on wheels and on floats.
This "airport" has no fences and as long as you behave normally there is no problem to drive and walk between the planes.
I must confess I am not heavily into General Aviation but there are a view types for which I make an exception.
De Havilland Canada Beavers is one of such types. There is a whole bunch of them to be found around this lake:
Not a Beaver but a Stinson JR
A Noorduyn Norseman
We have to watch the owner of this one
And a workshop with an Otter hidden in plane view

They do! Love it how hardly anything seems to have changed at outfits like Rust's, since I first wandered around there in '94. And the first shot takes the cake photowise Eddy, that low overcast over the Chugach Mountains, wow!pjgross wrote:Your Alaska reports bring back many good memories, thanks!
