Great News indeed!
Re: Malta International Airshow - 24/25 Sept 2016
22 August 2016
This year's edition will feature two distinct venues, as the aerial display moves over to Smart City Malta while the static display will remian at the airport.
Visitors to the Malta International Airshow 2016 will be able to enjoy watching the impressive line-up of aircraft at the airport, and later move on to Smart City Malta (limits of Xghajra/Kalkara) later on in the afternoon to enjoy the exciting displays of some unique aircraft and helicopters.
The Airshow gates (on the Hal Farrug Rd) open at 10am and close at 3.30pm.
This will allow ample time to go over to Smart City Malta to watch the flying display which should start by 5.30pm and continues into the early evening with a memorable display of an aircraft formation performing with pyrotechnics to bring the show to a close.
On Both Saturday and Sunday a seating area at Smart City Malta for those who want to watch the show in style facing the open Mediterranean Sea right in front.

The US Navy and the Armed Forces of Malta have confirmed their participation for this year's airshow. Unfortunaetly the Polish AF has informed us that the Su-22 will cancel their participation in this year's airshow..
We have been informed that due to operational tasks the Polish AF has cancelled its participation in the 2016 airshow.
The US Navy has confirmed it's first ever participation with a P-8 Poseidon both on Static Display and will also perform a Fly By in front of SmartCity Malta. The firstUS Navy P-8 Poseidon will arrive on Saturday morning to stay for the day as part of the static display, it will return to NAS Sigonella after the static display. A second P-8 Poseidon will be doing a fly by at SmartCity.
The Armed Forces of Malta has confirmed its participation in this year's airshow both in the static and flying display. An AFM Alouette III the island's veteran will open the show with the Malta Flag Salute. During the flying programme we shall witness again the AFM's AW139 and B200 king Air Duo that was a great hit last year when it was for the first time ever that the aircraft displayed together.
The organising team of the Malta International Airshow would like to thank the AFM and the US Navy for their continuous support to our event.

The flying Alouette 3 and AB212 were AS9211 and MM81212
Also in the static were
ZK459 X Beech 200
ZZ502 Avenger
Could you tell me where was the Portuguese C-295 - did this arrive late in the day?

Yes it did on Saturday. It was part of the static show on Sunday and left that afternoon.
Nice detail, according to one of the Maltese pilots I spoke the AW139 on static was delivered to the AFM Air Wing a day before the airshow.

Re: Malta International Airshow - 24/25 Sept 2016
Does anyone know which CASA was flying around Smart City just before the start of the flying show (about 16.45) on Saturday? Was it the Portuguese arriving or the Polish one doing a recce for the aerobatic team?
Re: Malta International Airshow - 24/25 Sept 2016
It was the Portugese.
