EHEH 17-06-16 MIL/ RCH 964
'RCH 964', KC-135R 60-0322 (mode-S), is currently over the Northsea experiencing technical difficulties. It is already squawking emergency 7700. Crew was talking about having enough fuel for 9,5 hours, and they were talking to Dutchmil about prefering to divert to Rota, because there is technical personnel to work on the plane, once landed safely. But this is all subject to change ofcourse, as the situation develops. I don't know how serious the problems are, but ofcourse often in these situations the aircraft lands safely.
(I don't know the exact frequency of Dutchmil it was transmitting on, but it was one of the regular ones, since only these are programmed in my scanner).
Regards,
Stephan

One would think that there are qualified technical engineers available at Mildenhall too...........Stephan Lodewijks wrote:'RCH 964', KC-135R 60-0322 (mode-S), is currently over the Northsea experiencing technical difficulties. Expect within 30mins RCH964 to be landing at Eindhoven with a small malfunction. Should be KC-135R 60-0322.

Re: 'RCH 964' in trouble
It left EPPW (Powidz, Poland) today morning, routing westbound (UK? USA direct?), squawking 7700 already while leaving Poland for Germany in northern route.Stephan Lodewijks wrote:It is already squawking emergency 7700.
Looks like prefer staying over the shore to jumping over the sea to UK. Guess burn some gas over the sea, passed Amsterdam heading SE, and is now (1125Z) below transition level.
Would be grateful for further info.

inbound Eindhoven! Ap
Re: 'RCH 964' in trouble
They have lost navigational equipment including autopilot so they are hand flying. Mildenhall would be the most obvious choice but I think weather is involved since they also requested some space to fly around some clouds on the way to Eindhoven being they are hand flying on sight. They had the original plan to proceed to Rota with 9,5 hours of fuel remaining so crossing the pond is not the issue (they even dumped fuel over the Northsea). They needed to re-file an airborne flightplan which in the end didn't work out with AONM and Eurocontrol.

60-0322 AFRC 434 AMW ATA1335lt, canceled emergency after succesful landing and vacating to taxiway R7. Strange to have picked it up on my radio some 90 minutes ago and to see it land at my homebase a while later

according to this picture http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7196235 it was already sporting Grissom Markings back in 2011, so AK ANG a month ago seems a bit odd.

Voor sommigen wellicht overbodige informatie,
maar deze Stratotanker gaat inderdaad nightstoppen....
