This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Re: Holiday in Vietnam, finally Sukhoi's!
Well done Patrick, and you're welcome! It seems they were (also) using the parallel runway 35L? And no Kamovs at all or just not within camera range?
It seems my theory could be correct then, that like at Ha Noi, the MiG21s are being replaced by Fitters here.. Perhaps a temporary solution until sufficient Su30s become available?
Enjoy the rest of your trip downsouth!

Very nice indeed.
This is my catch so far. Sorry no pictures.
Ho Chi Minh airport 13-09:
92101 Mi-8 + another one but couldn't read it
311 M28-05
248, 252, 239 An-26
These looked like as active ones. Behind these three two stored ones were seen, but unreadeble on the pictures.
Also two stored Mi-24's on deck.
War Remnants Museum 14-09:
66-0086 CH-47A
69-15753 UH-1H
70-1285 A-37B
71-1448 U-17
66-9170 F-5A
139674 A-1
Reunification Palace 14-09:
69-15445 UH-1H on the rooftop
"01638" F-5A in de garden
Fake serial as 70-1638 is no serialnumber and 73-1638 is a F-5E. But it's a F-5A for sure. Anyone for the correct serial? Maybe Patrick can look for it's c/n.
Ho Chi Minh City museum 14-09:
71-0271 F-5A
541 UH-1H
3724 A-37B
Can Tho 17-09:
04 Mi-171V
Military museum:
0-12723 U-17
521 UH-1
824 A-37B
Nha Trang 19-09:
Preserved at the base:
744 L-29
475 UH-1H
017 CJ-6
670 A-37B
2614 J-5
5108 Mig-21
2635 J-5
8107 Mig-21
Unknown L-39 on a pole behind the gate
One Yak-52 was seen at the beginning of the runway but not readable.

Holiday in Vietnam, Iaks @ Nha Trang
Thanks for all the nice comments! It was a special day last Thursday .
@ Martijn, I think we crossed eachother yesterday. You heading up north us going south. What a pitty we could not meet for beer .
Last night we arrived at Nha Thrang enroute to Dalad in the mountains. I booked a hotel as close as possible to the base .
Today ended up great! I was a bit nervous because of the weather and if the Iaks would fly. I got up at six and when I arrived at the swimming pool (on the 16th floor) many Iaks and Yaks where on the flight line. They started flying at 6.30.
More in Take Off magazine later .

Jep. The pics (with other w&r pics) will follow later! I think I also saw an U-17 behind the A-37.... furthermore there were 6 MiG.21's on the dump. I hope the serials are known.... on the platform next to the dump a L.29, Mi.24 and 2 MiG. Something dual fuselages where stored. (I think it are 15's).
