Hi guys
i'd like to get new tele lens for my Nikon D7000 and/ or D7100, so i'm looking for an alternative for the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 80-400 mm 1:4,5-5,6G ED VR (2000€ is way to much for me) so here are my candidates:
Sigma 50-500mm F4,5-6,3 DG OS HSM
Sigma 150-500 mm F5,0-6,3 DG OS HSM
Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD
Anyone any experience with one of those, which are aviation related
Thx for your answer.
Cheers
Sigma or Tamron

Re: Sigma or Tamron
In this price catergory I miss one candidate It seems to perform better than the Tamron equivalent.

Yeah but as far as i know it isn't released for the European market by now, so guess nobody has any aviation related experience (now) with that lense............... Any by the way the price of that lense will be around 1800-2100 Euro for the Sport Version (which might be the better one of those two revealed 150-600), so far too much, in my opinion!!

Why not consider the Sigma 120-400 OS? It costs around 700 euro.

The lens has been released but due to high demand not in stock. Price is around 1280 euro and of course I don't know if that matches your budget.Tigerspoon wrote:Maurice wrote:In this price catergory I miss one candidate It seems to perform better than the Tamron equivalent.

As for quality, optically the Sigma Sports and Contemporary are the same, differences are mainly build quality and speed. There are already many comparisons between the Tamron and the Sigma Sports but I didn't find any yet on the Contemporary as it is still too new. I have the impression that the Sigma will outperform the Tamron. Maybe well worth to read and could help you with deciding
