REQ: Very very long shot! Wittstock 11-3-1994
Hi all,
A little bit of a long shot I know... but I'll give it a try anyway!
On 12 March 1994 there was a small open house at Templin. Some of you might have visited Wittstock the day prior to the Templin event. (11-3-1994). In fact this was the last flying day of the Wittstock based 33.IAP.
Unfortunately I am still in limbo on one of the MiG-29UBs seen on this day. We recorded it as 56b but this was never seen in Germany. Did somebody else went to Wittstock on this friday and read off the four MiG-29UBs present? We have 55w, 71w and 72w as the other three.
Greetings, Paul

As this was the last day flying: A month (11-4-94) later the Wittstock planes flew to Mother Russia from Damgarten. From my pictures there I see 55W as well as 64 outline with 33 IAP markings. Other UB's were 80W and 74W, but these did not have 33 IAP markings.

Hartelijk dank! Dit is dus de bewuste vrijdag 11-3-1994?Nilson wrote:We had that day: 71 wh, 72 wh, 55 wh and 64 outline.

Daarnaast IL-76 RA-78797.

Re: REQ: Very very long shot! Wittstock 11-3-1994
I was also 11 march 1994 at Templin waiting for the airshow a/c to arrive. A nice Mi-22 Hook-C 51 red from Sperenberg crossed the base. We also saw that morning until 13.15h 2 MiG-23UB's from Wittstock crossing high and I counted 7x a MiG-29 from Wittstock. Can anyone confirm only the 66 and 68 red MiG-23UB were flying that day (morning)?Om ff te crosschecken; wij hadden deze dag de volgende bakken:
MiG-29 9-12: 01, 06, 07, 08, 12, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30, 31, 33, 36
en de vier duals alsmede twee niet gelezen MiG-23UB's die de 66 en de 68 zouden moeten zijn geweest
I am also looking for the serials from the Su-17 Fitters at the flightline at Templin during the open day 12-3-1994.
I have (not all read by myself!): (yellow) 01, 02, 04, 10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 22, 23, 27, 40, 41, 43, 45, 46, 47, 49 and 81, 84, 87.
(orange) 26, 29, (blue) 17. I think I miss at least one Fitter serial.
At the static were 42, 44 and 88.
And another longshot:
Before we entered Sperenberg for our self guided tour on a sunday (28-03-1993) we saw a Aeroflot Il-18/22 Coot arrive at Sperenberg at around 13.15h. Anyone for the serial? We did not saw it on base near Coot 20 and 21 red.
I hope anyone can help me on this?
Erik

Re: REQ: Very very long shot! Wittstock 11-3-1994
Another question about those Russians in former DDR:
Is c/n from Templin Su-17M 17 blue known? Scramble DB gives for 17 blue one c/n (67317), but that is far out off line with the other Templin Fitters and not stated as ex 20 APIB.
Are the c/n's known from MiG-23UB 66 and 68 red from Wittstock?
Did Grossenhain had also a MiG-23UB 68 red? Scramble DB gives for the last one c/n 6902010 and c/n 902710 (both 68 red Grossenhain mar'93)

Re: REQ: Very very long shot! Wittstock 11-3-1994
I can strongly recommend the excellent book "Sowjetische Fliegerkräfte Deutschland 1945-1994 - Band 4" by Lutz Freund, as well as the preceding 3 books (although these 3 do not focus on numbers).
For the MiG-23UBs in Wittstock it only mentions blue- and outline-codes, the abovementoned 2 seem to have been based at Grossenhain.
This is what it says:
66rd c/n 6902010 296APIB Grossenhain 89-mar93
68rd c/n 2710 296APIB Grossenhain 91-mar93
Gerard

Grossenhain indeed had two-seaters in the 60-69 range but those at Wittstock were different ones.Gerard wrote:I can strongly recommend the excellent book "Sowjetische Fliegerkräfte Deutschland 1945-1994 - Band 4" by Lutz Freund, as well as the preceding 3 books (although these 3 do not focus on numbers).

296.APIB already had left at the time of the log.
@ Erik: I have the ATC log from Wittstock from 11 March 1994 and it only shows 66. I will try to figure it out on monday.

Re: REQ: Very very long shot! Wittstock 11-3-1994
I am looking forward for the ATC log from 11-3-1994.
Can it be that the red coded 66 and 68 Floggers moved to Wittstock after Grossenhain closed?
I know the great 16va website, but the serial part is not active (yet).
Anyone for the blue coded Fitter c/n?
Thanks so for!
Erik
