According to Australian PM an Australia Air Force C17 will help to bring back bodies of MH17 crash. It will help the Dutch C130. Most likely arrival on Wednesday.

Today one will arrive at Eindhoven, so not on SPL.

Australian Air Force C17 A41-209 landed at Eindhoven this morning. Loading cargo. Will fly to Kharkiv to collect bodies and then return to the Netherlands.
This is one plane I hoped I never saw. RIP. #bringthemhome

Currently (Tuesday 11:11) an Australian Air Force C17 A41-209 is parked at Eindhoven airport loading cargo.
The aircraft is likely loading coffins and supporting equipment to transport bodies of MH17 passengers to Amsterdam.

No time of departure known.
I guess either today in the evening or at July 23 the aircraft is expected at Amsterdam. Mind this is a guess based on the news that the Netherlands want the bodies asap back in the Netherlands for identification.

Also a Dutch C130 will be used for transportation of bodies.

Morning,

Is this based on facts or assumption (that he goes to AMS)? As I have my doubts about that......

Thanks for clearing this up,
Oscar

The media are reporting that "a" Australian transport will be bringing remains home to Amsterdam. There is as far as I know no official confirmation that this is true. I would actually hazard a guess that the flight will return to Eindhoven, as the base is well equipped to handle precious cargo outside the prying eyes of the media. A military installation is of course easier to seal off.

The Australian can easily be seen from a parking garage so no sealing off at this moment.

Destination Amsterdam was told by Australian PM as well as the Malaysian PM I believe.

Not sure were identification is done but I guess Amsterdam has more logistics (cars to transport coffins, hangar space to unload aircraft) and cooling capacity (hospitals/mortuaria) than Eindhoven.

The NFI in Rijswijk seems the most likely lab to do the identifications.

Rutte just said on the news that the flights with casualties will fly into Eindhoven. They will be transported to some military barracks in Hilversum from here.

According to Dutch media an air bridge will be flown with a Dutch Herc and the Australian C-17 between Eindhoven and Kharkov to return the bodies to the Netherlands. I doubt that this aircraft will go to Amsterdam

This topic will be closed as Schiphol is not involved, MIL traffic (including RAAF C-17A) will go to/from Eindhoven and further information can be found HERE at the Eindhoven subforum.
