They leave at the end of the day, usually 6/7PM.

Does anybody know which participating aircraft might possibly NOT operate from their home bases?
I am thinking of the helicopteres (operating out of Creil again???) and of the Mirage F.1s (which are expected at Chateaudun after the flypast).

That's correct:

For most formations only the leader will take part.

About the same here in La Defense. But too wet to go outside. No pictures of the rehearsal this year :-)

Almost complete fly-past was rehearsed 24 June at Chateaudun.

Below is a list from where the various Armée de l'Air airplanes start. The list did not include the army and navy planes. During the rehearsals all helos (except Securité Civile) flew from Villacoublay, so it's safe to say that this is the case again on Monday.

Yes, this is coinciding with final flight of the Mirage F1 in operational French service. This is the reason why their operating base is Chateaudun; they are put in storage there immediately after the flypast. (So Nancy wasn't their last public appearance after all..)

Is there a chance to see the flyby from the Gare de l’Est when I am late?
I don't think so...

Maybe this website will help you to travel by Metro from Gare de l'Est to Invalides
http://www.ratp.fr/itineraires/fr/ratp/ ... lus_rapide
Thank you! :-)
Niek wrote:I've made a quick map of the Defilé, maybe this helps:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7Zwyk ... sp=sharing

The long line is the route of the defilé, it changes to the fly-out route on the dotted part (height of the planes increases)
I marked the spot at les Invalides with a red circle, where the line of sight is marked in yellow. This means you have no buildings obstructing your view.
The blue square is the area where the choppers will land after the flypast.
The red square in the upper righthand corner is the Gare de l'Est. As you see, the line of sight is much longer (obstructions) and you face towards the sun.
According to http://www.ratp.fr, a metro journey would take you 28 minutes (I did not calculate the queue for the ticket machine).

So, it's up to you, but it's rather tricky....
Wow! Great work! Thanks a lot! :-) At the time I am also looking for an alternate place to get to, faster than to the invalides...
Nilson wrote:@USAFE.

Not sure but maybe to go quickly to the Sacre Coeur. From there you have a good view over Paris as far as I can remeber.

Good luck.
I will check this option. Anyone with experience in Taxis? Could also try to go by taxi from Est to Invalides...

Trains are booked. Arrival 09:50h at Gare de l'Est...

Taxis could be a challenge as well, since many roads are closed. I would take the Metro. The flying part starts at 10.30 and the weather looks ok for the morning. Hope to see you there.
