As somebody who has not attended a dutch show for many years
Can I say how much I enjoyed this particular event.

A nice evening spent in Arnhem on the thursday, with many beautiful blonde dutch women in and around the town square watching England gloriously losing to Uruguay.

No swearing or bottles thrown at the screen !!!!!

This spent in a town that feels very comfortable to be in for a UK citizen
,For obvious reasons .

Then the Airshow !! It had Greeks & Turks , a decent Dutch airpower display & thiings in shelters to look for ...... Better than Waddo.... Yes ! , better than RIAT ..... Maybe !

What's not to like ?

First; this show is for the general public to let them see what the KLu does with their tax money. This is not a show for just spotters. Why is that so hard to comprehend for most people here.
Second; it's free, you get to see 3 F-16's demo's, an F-18, Mig-29, the Red Arrows and the BBMF. Look at the line up at RIAT this year. It's the worst ever but it will still cost you €55,-

True, the variety of aircraft has been better but the show it self was not bad at all. Only comment I can think of is a bit too many F-16's demo's in a short time period (I went on friday). No one was looking anymore by the time the 3rd (Greek) F-16 took off. And the Spanish team Aspa demo was so boring it made me want to stick forks in my eyeballs to stay awake.

But what really annoyed me (as every year) the whole day was the excruciating bad commenatary from these two 'commentators'.

It's not hard for me to comprehend for me that the Air Force Days isn't only for spotters, yes I take a little bit personal because I made a comment which was quoted and reacted that I didn't had to see it from a spotters point of view. But hé how do I need to see it. I'm not a typical daytripper because i'm a spotter. I like to make photos. And if that's not possible, I'm also not the guy that's gonna nag about it big time, perhaps that's hard to understand with only words on a screen and not the expression of the moment. That the Alouettes in the tent weren't possible to shoot, tried to look for possibilities but hey just couldn't see one. Well it was a shame but at least I could look at them. I don't complain about it big time, it's hard to type my expression and the way I was 'disappointed'. Because the disappointment latest for only a second and then, ok lets go, continuing with some other stuff. It was a shame I couldn't get the new Chinook on the static the way I wanted, alright note to myself, need to go to the airbase on a normal flying day and moving on. The Lynx, got it already, but now I could get some detail shots from it. Thank you DHC. That they focus more on daytripper, well off course I understand, future personnel walks amongst them. And have to say that this year I saw some nice things for kids to do. But also understand that not everyone that says that something wasn't good for photos is a big complainer. I know I have to improvise and handle the situations at hand during those days and accept that sometimes an aircraft isn't reachable. Which I do. But still would like to get the aircraft whom got away from me. Luckily they don't only come out at the air force days.

Think you're judging to early about RIAT. not saying it is or isn't the worst line-up, think people said it about the previous years also. But look at this years Air Force Days, also not the best but the show was great, as you said yourself. Which I agree. Let's see what RIAT brings.

The amount of English words used is way too much. You want to keep it interesting for children as well. That is your job as commentator/presenter.

Especially this "Snek" guy from the Apache team takes the cake on this one.

Well I can understand that they used those words. Those guys talk it 24/7 during work, so for them those words are more common then their dutch counterparts. Perhaps someone during preparations had said something about it. Still not entirely their fault in my opinion. Can relate to it. Work at a company that has 95% of it business outside, every manual is in English, so we also use a lot of English instead of the dutch words. If I have to talk about work with family then a conversation can take longer because first I need to think about the words and what they are in Dutch
