A very quiet Spangdahlem this day.
A McChord C17 arrived when we were not a the landing spot so no photo's of that one, as of the 2 already at the platform. Recovery of the F16's:
At 1345 decided to go to Buchel, later learned that 15 minutes after leaving 2 A10's flew...

This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Re: [MIL] Spangdahlem ETAD 28-5-2014
Hi Hans, after hearing the bad news from you guys upon arriving at Spang, we decided to walk up to the rwy 23 approach anyway as it must have been at least 20 years that I was at this side of the base and was curious about the situation. We knew our chances were slim to begin with, as the Idaho boys hadn't flown at all yet this week. Reading a message on this forum on our way to Spang that at 10 AM they were still not active, we almost decided to drive to Buchel straight, but took a shot at it anyway.
After checking the spot and a few sandwiches we started to walk back to the car when suddenly an A-10 took off from rwy05, YES! #2 followed a few minutes later and they started doing circuits for a full hour. Soon some of the guys that had left hauled ass and made it back panting and sweating but in time to catch them a few more rounds. Nice company gents, also in Prum at dinner!
Although these shots are not so different than many others posted here, I tried to be a littlebit creative and want to share some results. After all, when they go around 8 times, you do want a different angle.. And since they are Guard Hogs, stowing the camera is not really an option, is it?
Since I am not into collecting serial numbers, I think I was very lucky yesterday!
