sbs related sites

I have a question;

I do not have a sbs-1 radar box or something similar. Are there sites where I can watch radar "images"without sharing? live-military mode-s.eu is only avialable when sharing a box. Is there another site to watch "for free"?

I wonder if all people on mailing lists do have their own sbs-1 when logging a plane including tailnr and type a/c as this is a quite expensive toy.

Actually there are several options in this area now,there are USB Dongles which run about 20 Dollars and then a program to tell you what the data is and your all set for about 60 Dollars.I know a couple of people have an older cheap computer to run it on and it works just fine.Just check around the internet and some places will even send you one for free if you share your data with them and their network.

what kind of usb dongle do I need, where can I find that related software and where can I find related info about how stuff works?

If you want to view a page without a password on http://www.live-military-mode-s.eu/ please let me know. Some pages are available without an username/password.
Username/password has to do with performance and some users don't want to show their data to everyone.

Yes I like to view movements on http://www.live-military-mode-s.eu but I get some error message when I try to register. But you're telling me it is possible to watch mil. movements anywhere without registration or sharing? What are the other sites?

Perhaps I'm too choosy but these radar sites only show civil flights.

I wonder how Dutch people are able to monitor military flights from for example across the ocean. A c17 which flies across the USA logging with tail, destination and departure airport. Am I asking too much?

Get yourself a SBS receive (either a cheap dongle or the more expensive but better devices like the Beast), and pay a one-time only fee for PlanePlotter. This allows you to participate in the world of sharing information through PlanePlotter. Together with Alberts very excellent site, you'll be able to deep dive into this wonderfull world. For military enthousiast, like myself, this allows you to get a better insight in what is moving where. You can check St Johns in Canada which gives you a good impression on what arrives from the west. Bucharest/Pafos for example can be used for information from the east. etc. etc.

Subscribe to Planeplotter , you see most of the Mil flights . It's a very sexy piece of kit.

I'd rather choose for the cheaper version, that dongle because the radar beast may be a sexy toy but it costs a lot of big ones. What is the scope from these things? And excuse me for the misunderstanding, where do I get these things and what else do I need to get it working?

Please check http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/v ... 12&t=71933. This is a thread which has all the information including links to the various software components etc. Important is to get a dongle which has the R820T chipset. The software RTL1090 (which is free of use) uses this chipset to extract the ADSB information. If you've got any futher question please let me know. I've got it running like this for more than a year without any issues.

Here is a sample of the 820 T-dongle, They are about 8 dollar ,you can use the standard antenna when you cut it at 65 MM ,but for a better antenna you need a MSX- SMA- Adapter
