Hello to all,
the preserved Sabre Mk.5 in Roth is for sale via VEBEG
Pic : https://www.vebeg.de/web/de/verkauf/suc ... SHOW_LOS=1
The Picture from the c/n plate say clear it´s 871, and Scramble Database says BB+257 (ex BB+149) is scrapped and EMOOS´11 says c/n 838 ex BB+130 (ex BB+140) preserved here as "JA+130" from 1959. Scramble-Database say it´s c/n 838 too. I think we write many years the wrong registration in our logbook and this is the real c/n 871 and never scrapped.
The pres. RF-84F EA+315 (as "EA+105") is for sale too, and a pic of the c/n plate is online, it says it´s 681R

the Tornado is not intresting, intresting is the i/d from the Sabre Mk5.
The c/n Plate says clearly 871 and all Infos from this c/n say, it´s scrapped. And EMOOS say c/n 838 is the i/d from the preserved Sabre. So many Spotter write the wrong i/d in the logbooks and 871 still alive and 838 is scrapped ?

Re: F-86 Sabre Mk.5 in Roth
Well spotted! These plates look lke part plates though, not the "main" construction number plate (which F-84s don't have anyway afaik). So it could be a matter of swopping parts before preservation/scrapping?

Re: F-86 Sabre Mk.5 in Roth
To get this old topic back into life, an update from last december.
The Sabre in question has moved to Zehdenick now, and I did inspect it there. We found a plate with the c/n, which we read off as 888. It was difficult to read it though, so I easily believe it really was 838. It certainly wasn't 871.
Unfortunately the link to VEBEG with the plate that has 871 on it doesn't work anymore, so I can't compare, but based on my earlier comment that it looked like a parts plate only, I tend to believe the Scramble database is right and the aircraft indeed is 838/BB+130.
