Wreck/old fuselage at Baldonnel, Ireland

Post by janbroe »

I went on a full tour of the Irish Air Corps base at Baldonnel earlier today.
Out on the field near the fire training area, I could see an old fuselage.
Whilst hard to judge the size exactly, since nothing else was nearby, I would say it *could* be Viscount/C-54 size.
It is visible on Google Earth at N53.307580° W6.450979°
I asked both the cadet who was my tour guide and the curator in the Air Corps Museum, but none of them knew what it was.
Anyone here got any offers?

Thanks in advance for your help

I could be mistaken, but that fuselage (with wingparts) looks like a HS.748 to me...

Gentlemen,

I knew I could count on you :D
The fuselage in the airliners.net photo is indeed what I saw.

Thanks a lot for your help!
