News: CHC AS332L2 G-WNSB fatal crash near Shetlands 23082013

According to the BBC, a CHC AS332L2 Super Puma ditched just west of Sumburgh, Shetland Islands around 1900 lt there. It was carrying 18 people; so far, 9 appear to have been rescued. Two rescue helicopters and a ferry were responding to the scene.

Small update: 15 people rescued, 3 still missing Weather at the time is being described as "windy and misty". Although this was an AS332-L2 it is not really good news for the (Super) Puma as the EC225 had only recently been allowed back in the air following earlier mishaps.

I don't think so wonju666, in other similar cases there was allways a differentiation between commercial passenger transport and Mil operators.
I think it will be up to every individual military user to decide for themselfs if it is wise to use the helicopters of this type or not. For the time being only UK offshore flights are suspended again by the operators, not yet imposed by the regulating authorities.
