AMS 2013 - Not a good start

Post by XYZ »

Due to the economic climate in Europe, as well as winter weather in the first two months - AMS has made a slow start in 2013.

Fewer aircraft movements result from cancellations due to weather and the loss of airlines like IB.
Fewer Passengers result from lower local O&D traffic, while transfer traffic is up.
Freight is starting to pick up, particularly inbound from the Middle East, and mail has increased.

Statistics: Jan. - Febr. 2013 - Jan. - Febr. 2012 - compared

Movements 58.655 / 61.203 - 4,2%

Passengers: 6.662.948 / 6.734.711 - 1,1%

Freight: 229.607 / 226.893 + 1,2%

Mail: 4.972 / 4.265 + 16,6%

Statistics for just February 2013 - February 2012:

Air Transport movements 28.706 / 30.069 - 4,5%

Passengers (incl transit-direct) 3.271.022 / 3.304.220 - 1,0%

Cargo (tonnes) 113.470 / 118.017 - 3,9%

Mail (tonnes) 2.312 / 2.032 + 13,8%

Pax figures for Feb 2013 weren't bad if you consider that in 2013 February had 1 day less than in 2012.
