Just before I arrived, a GAF Transall flew in the near of the airbase, no c/s or serial.

Here's my log of my spotting trip to Wittmund on 14/11/2012 between 9h30 and 17h00
The weather forecast was for a cloudy morning and a sunny afternoon. It turned out to be true for the morning, but unfortunately the clouds stuck around for the afternoon too.

Three more F-4s followed later in the morning, including a outbound-flight of clean configurated example 38+29, which went to Jever. The smaller afternoon-wave included a sixth active F-4 noted that day. The highlight of the day however was the delivery of 38+10 in its original Norm 72 colour scheme, bringing the numer of flying „Phantoms“ to seven!
Not bad, regarding the fact that another German fighter wing wasting millions of Euros tax-payers money for so-called „ten-pack“ hangars and brand-new administration buildings still hardly manages to get such a numer of aircraft into the air within one single day ..)

Then, a quic scramble to Ardorf and a just one hour stay allowed me for watching recoveries of four F-4s – including the QRA, two “Skyhawks” and a rare Do.228 from Nordholz. Then it was time to leave my temporary homebase until returning in somewhere in 2013 ...)
