China pics,a little trip (Beijing & Zhuhai) the last pics

I am in China at the moment for the Zhuhai show but wanted to extend my trip a bit so I could see the Great Wall (in the snow...) and the Museum in Beijing. From the most northern subwaystation you can get there easily by bus.
There are about 200+ aircraft there. In the cave are "new"and old ones parked.


In the northeast corner is the helicopter parking.


In the main museum hall are some prototypes and other old stuff preserved. The small hangar next to it is almost empty. Just a F6 and a lot of uniforms. The Spitfire and other special a/c used to be in it. No clue were they are now.....


North of the helicopter area is the dump. 5 Y5's and 5 IL.10's are lingering there plus some other relics.

While standing on this spot a few Z-9's flew over so 4Aviation guys, have your big lens ready too. There is an airbase nearby.


After this I visited the museum in town. There are rebuilding it but all the a/c are outside under sheds.
A day later (yesterday) I flew to Guangzhou (near Zhuhai). After some searching on internet I seemed wise not to fly from Capital Airport but from a combined civil and military base south of Beijing. Make sure you sit on the left site!

The two oldies probably came in by truck as did one or two helicopters.

At least one of the oldies was flown out by visiting Y8 last time 1 or 2 days after the show, as it is a long way back to Beijing.

Yep Patrick, at least Scramble China W&R says it is Korean. There are about 5 of them probably with fake serials. Hopefully Jurgen will read the c/n's off next week . I was in a hurry because I had to do 2 musea last tuesday (they were both closed on monday).

Yesterday (the 8th) I did a little recce tour around the airfield. Unfortunately the rooftophotel was not open... After a long walk in the heat I found a spot near touchdown. Not too much was going on yet.
A Y8 arrived and left and a "civil" Yun 12F came in. But I did not mind to spend a day waiting for one a/c.

The today Y8 came in to bring stuff for the FH7 (the Chinese said).

Today is another arrival day in the Chinese way I guess..... (no quantity but quality).
Get up early, take a 90 minutes busride to the Airport, take a taxi until a dirtroad starts and start walking for an hour (in the heat).... It brings you to this spot;

I didn't even know the exact type before I saw one in the museum in Beijing this week...... (Stephan just told me I saw one at Paris Salon in 87....)

THe Pakistani were a day delayed. The first Hercules came in around noon.

3 JF-17's a few hours later.

And the second Herk came in around 1600.

Inbetween the yesterdays Y8 came back again. When I was waiting for the second PAF Herk a Z-19 had been unloaded, assembled and made a test run. May-be it is the first spotterspic on Scramble of this type .

After the run it was put in a hangar.


Tomorrow I will try again to see some arrivals.....

Yep, during the Korean War. Chinese pilots flew with the North Korean Air Force ( I guess in their own jets, with korean markings).
There are also six Chinese "Aces", shooting down 5 or more american aircraft.

Sorry, I misinformed you, it was '89. Its presence was kind of overshadowed by the "Soviet invasion" in that year's Salon edition. The J-8II was displayed there as "F-8II".

Sorry, I misinformed you, it was '89. Its presence was kind of overshadowed by the "Soviet invasion" in that year's Salon edition. The J-8II was displayed there as "F-8II".

This one started life as J8IIA (J8D) (with c/n J8IIA-1103), but has been converted to J8DF. (so not 8DH?)
Maybe under the yellow paint an old serial of the former Regiment is visible?? (likely 2110x)???

I will do my best Jaap once I get on the airport ! And thanks for the c/n. Btw the Chinese spotters think there might be a c/n on the tail of the Z19.
Today seemed to be the day that I was waiting for. In the morning the Z8 flew and an hour before sunset the H6 came in with a day delay. After standing in the heath for two days (first day was cloudy) with no shadow I hope it was worth it.
The Z8 flew 3 times. Once for a cloudbasecheck (for the F10 Demo Team) and twice to drop people out. I guess it will be flying during the showdays too! I updated my log too. There is also some civil stuff and I will try to put them in later. Today a MA.60, ARJ.21 and some other stuff came in. I made a mistake in the log by thinking all JF-17's would belong to the Black Panthers but only one is.

The Demo team took off three times. First with three, then four and finally six. I am not impressed yet. Is it known that the 10 has crashed?

The 11 and 12 are duals.

Same Y8 again unfortunately but this time with sun.

My highlight of the year.

The H6 was joined by this FH7 (same base?).


It was a great hot day. Tomorrow the Y8 with disk and the Russians will arrive in but I will stay in too for a day. Maybe I will take a ferry to the Minsk.
