Meppen range - 2012

From 8 - 24 October exercise Xaver 2012 will be held at the Meppen Range.

This could result in some extra movements at Rheine Bentlage (choppers) or Wittmund (fighters)

Is this the old Embow exercise?

No clue on what may be seen, two years ago i spend a couple of hours near the Meppen range resulting in a low flying, flare shooting C-160 and a Tiger

74+26 and 87+51 have landed at Bentlage. If you don't find them at Bentlage, go get them at the little heliport east of the WTD91 range at Meppen

Some French choppers (Caracal and SA.330 both from Cazaux) landed yesterday evening in Ramstein.
Maybe they are operating from here to this range??

They are expected at Holzdorf for an exercise, so Ramstein was their fuelstop.

At least 2 Tigers and some Bo's are based at Rheine at the moment. For this exercise I suppose.

11-10 saw Outlaw 3 (15+01) low over the range !



They are doing some stuff with manpads at the Range, see this article in a local Zeitung

Good afternoon,

Planned to go to Meppen next Wednesday, but got a question: is the small airfield legally reachable at all ?
Looking at maps it seems to be within military area.
