We saw 6 A-10's doing 2 missions that day, as well as 6 F-16C from 480th FS doing 1 mission in the late afternoon.
First some Hog shots
And some viper shots
I hope you like them

They look very nice and not a bad catch, two times the hogs as well as some F-16's.
From what spot did you take the pictures?
The take-off A-10 looks runway 23, but the others look like landing 05.
Let me know, while I want to visit Spang.
Thnx

take off shots from the A-10's were taken at the big road in the approach of RWY05 when they departed RWY23. All the other shots were made in the approach of RWY23. As it was the first time for us to visit Spangdahlem, it was some sort of recce to find the right spots and how they fly as they changed runways a lot. That caused that we missed all 6 A-10's landing in bright sunshine around noon with the best light of the day...

If you stand at the 23 side there is a hill in the bushes (in the morning you have back light) where you can stay and have a good look at the runway when the Hog's take off from 05 you can take theme from there alltough the are high but is you take a sprint back to the fence around the corner you can take the perfect take off shot.
In the morning it is ok to stand on the other side of the runway lights so you don't have backlight.
