On July 6, 2012 VMM-561 deactivated and the MV-22 aircraft, which belonged to the squadron, were shipped to Okinawa, Japan.

As per the USMC Aviation road map released in September 2010,but the latest defense cuts killed VMM-561 'Pale Horses' and halted the standing up of VMM-562.

HMM-262 and HMM-265 (then to re-designate to VMM-262 and '265) will be the recipants of thesy Ospreys.Not sure which unit first,but the second unit is/was scheduled to receive their Ospreys on/by 01st October 2013.

Recently the Japanese government withheld permission for the MV-22s to be based in Japan,but in light of this shipment,this has assumably been rescinded?.
