I find it hard to believe that Lisbon is above Chicago in any such list. So what is this list really. Is it number of international seats?

Good news, let it grow, let it grow....

(Statistics divided by the number of runways would be interesting? Would show the Brits perform a helluva job at LHR! :-) )

Just to report on some 2012 traffic developments of new routes:

- The new EZY route AMS-Southend carried over 10.000 passengers to/from AMS in May 2012. This is more passengers/month than older established routes, such as AMS-EMA, AMS-BFS, AMS-CWL, AMS-SOU, AMS-HUY which all remained below 10.000 pax/month.

- Since EZY opened GLA-AMS-GLA in competition with KLM last winter, this route has broken the pax. record of 31.000 pax/month set in August 2005. The route carried over 32.000 pax in March, April & May 2012.

- Other airports that saw new monthly pax. records in 2012 are: INV, MAN and BHD. But with the departure of BMIbaby, this last airport is now no longer connected to AMS.

In July 2012 AMS registered 40.012 movements, just 456 air transport movements more than in July 2011.

This is the first time since August 2007 that AMS broke through the 40.000 movements/month barrier. The movement record was set in July 2007 when 40.464 transport aircraft were handled in one month.

Please note that when GA aircraft are included AMS handled 41.221 aircraft movements in July 2012 and a record 42.097 in July 2007.

AMS handled 5.224.913 passengers in July 2012 (up just 1.3%), this is an all time record for the airport.

The AMS-UK route data for July 2012 have been released.

The data show that the shut-down of BMIBaby from AMS to BHX, EMA and BHD has cost AMS about 25.000 passengers. Overall the UK-AMS-UK market has fallen by 15.000 passengers due to the departure of BMIBaby and the negative performance of:
- AMS-LCY
- AMS-STN
- AMS-LPL
- AMS-LBS
- AMS-NWI
- AMS-SOU

However several routes have scored very well with new all-time passenger records:
- AMS-Edinburgh - 54.152 (old record Sept. 2011)
- AMS-Inverness - 3.217 (old record June 2012)
- AMS-Manchester - 61.203 (old record April 2012)
- AMS-Southend - 12.424 (old record May 2012)

FlyBe to INV is now larger than FlyBe on AMS-EXE, perhaps thanks to the new KLM codeshare.
With the opening of FlyBe routes from AMS to BHX and EMA some of the lost passengers will be regained.
