Winter 2012

Post by civil »

In addition to the published new routes to LHR 3 times a day (BA) and Munich twice a day (LH),
Ryanair has requested slots for 5 daily flights.
Destinations not yet known.

All these flights are planned to start between 28-31 Oct.

As for Ryanair - let's wait and see.

Yeah, but most unlikely that they will offer that many flights, probably DUB is used to fill the database before the actual destinations are known.

Curious btw how Rotterdam will be called by Ryanair: Amsterdam-South or Brussels-North?

minor adjustment - 5 daily flights, and indeed destination Dublin is just a "slot" destination..

I wonder how RTM is going to accommodate these flights as there aren't enough slots left if both BA and FR want to have these flights continue during S13. The S12 had only 2,284 slots left, which equates to slightly more than 5 daily round trips. Unless RTM gets a lot of new slots, or AF/KL/HV are cutting back considerably, these plans can never last longer than W12 (if they even fit into the max capacity of RTM for W12). Moreover terminal capacity is also limited at RTM, and wonder if this will become an issue (though I think that FR won't come to RTM).

Anyway RTM must be glad that Europort Express wasn't a genuine idea (the airport will probably make more money from an A319/737-800 than a Jetstream or whatever they intended to use) :)

BTW I see that Transavia is going to serve Friedrichshafen this Winter. Did they do that last year as well??

Yup, I think it's the third winterseason they fly to FDH, on saturdays only.

Transavia filed twice daily flights to XXX. I reckon that this will be a new destination (or at least HV doesn't want to let us know what they intend to do with these slots). Anyone an idea what destination they may serve with these slots? It looks like one destination will get a twice daily flight (which will probably be a business destination as it's a perfect schedule for such a destination)

Estimated flying time (one way) about 2,15 hrs...

Don't lose hope yet. The winter schedule is still far away, BA and Rotterdam airport might need to get to a final agreement after which the flights will be announced.

This is what the BA site itself says;
;
Due to the volume of changes being made to British Airways' network for winter 2012, the changes will go on sale on ba.com in stages over the next few days and further route announcements will be made next month.

On a side note, does anyone know how RTM can allocate 8,815 slots for W12 whilst the maximum number of slots is set at 8,678 for W12?

According the spotters site MST-Aviation.nl Ryanair was talking about a base at RTM, but couldn't agree on the fees and other issues. As such they decided that their first base would be MST (http://www.mst-aviation.nl/viewtopic.ph ... 5&start=15). Therefore I wonder how many FR slots will remain after the final return date.
