In the next few years a new canal will be created between Cambrai and Compiegne.
According to the plans it will be between the old canal and the town of Cambrai, so apparantly the base had to be axed for shipping...
Makes a new chance for a different kind of spotter.

Maybe they will keep the airfield to make a cargo hub of it, cargoplanes/cargoships/trucks...
