REQ.: Exercise DACT 2012 @ GANDO AB

Anybody any information about this Spanish exercise!?

The 2011 version looked great and even had a spottersday!
Will there be one just like last year or has it been cancelled!?

Was there last year( including spotterday), but no sign of à DACT 2012 according to my Spanish contacts at Gando. But it can change fast, last year i knew it 2 weeks in advance

The DACT 2012 should take place the last week of January and first week of February (Jan 23 to Feb 3). I got this info from a friend of mine that is in contact with the organizer of past spotterdays.
About the spotterday it seems that it will take place during the second week of the exercise.
No information about foreign air forces...

I am lucky enough to be on Gran Canaria, but only the last week of January.
Does anybody have more info about :
- 1 or 2 missions a day
- timing of the missions (time of the take-offs) and average length of the mission
- best place to spot outside the base

In 2010 there were two missions a day...one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Honestly I don't remeber the exact time...but I bet they will start the engines around 10am and 2pm. Average lenght of the mission is about 1hr /1hr 30'

The best place to spot outside is for landing shots on runway 03R. Perfect spot for landings but only in the morning, after you will face the sun.

No problem with the local police. There is a small hill near the airport and you can have a perfect view of the activity.

If you look at the link the first shots are made from that spot. ( 27°54'50.20"N 15°23'25.40"O)

The timeframe you mentioned is the same as I had, but till now still nothing official about the DACT!
And that's a little strange I think! When more details are known please share! (thru the site or PM)

According PAO of the Spanish Airforce (called today) this exercise should take part April/May........

I was near Gando AB from 23 to 25 January and there was no extra flying activity, so no exercise in that period.
