Re: RIAT RAF FAIRFORD Arrivals - Departures 2011
Indeed one mystery less.
While we're on the subject of id's. The Air Cadet 70 theme flypast hosted a Chipmunk with serial WG306 (c/n C1/0359). This one supposedly is registered in the US as N311SH (according to the UK military demobbed website). However the FAA register shows that one as destroyed. I also read somewhere that WG306 is a composed airframe after some sort of accident.
Anyone here who can shine a light on this?

Re: RIAT RAF FAIRFORD Arrivals - Departures 2011
Hi Frank, frank kramer wrote:Hello all, finally got round to checking serials and photos... and now the questions spring up! Could anyone help me with the following please (all relating to the Saturday):
- the AMI P180 on the north side
- the RAF Rescue Sea King(s?) on the north side
- the Hawk coded "CA" of 100Sqn in the Red Arrows line (what was it doing there anyway?)
- the Squirrels that were in and out during the day (did see "00" and "74" myself, but were there others?)
- was there an An124 in Brize's traffic pattern and overhead Fairford somewhere around 15:30 lt? Or was it something else?
Addition to the list (not seen mentioned here before)
- ZZ177 C-17A 99Sqn scs arrived in the morning and departed in the afternoon
- G-PSST Hunter F.58
- G-FBEG Emb.195LR FlyBe (flyby's)
and, with the risk of offending some purists:
- replica Hurricane: "V6555/DT-A"
- replica Spitfire: "EN398/JE-J"
It seems my PM's got stuck in the "postvak uit", so I'll send you my info via the messageboard:
I didn't read the P180 myself, so I can't confirm the serial. I didn't see a second yellow Sea King on the North side, so I guess the one you saw flying was ZH545. And about the An124, you could be right: (from fightercontrol.co.uk)

That would have been ADB An-124 inbound 'ADB5159' UR-82027 1825

The AN-124 was inbound Brize Norton. I saw it when i was in Lechlade. It departed on monday early in the morning. It was an An-124 from Antonov Design Bureau.mailman wrote:frank kramer wrote: - was there an An124 in Brize's traffic pattern and overhead Fairford somewhere around 15:30 lt? Re: RIAT RAF FAIRFORD Arrivals - Departures 2011
And the 100 squadron Hawk coded CA in the Red Arrows line was the XX284.
What it was doing there ???.
But it looked that on arrival Thursday a Red Arrow pilot/crewmember was a backseatpassenger.

Re: RIAT RAF FAIRFORD Arrivals - Departures 2011
Hi everybody,
can any kind soul help me clear up some queries about RIAT 2011 - I was attending Sunday 17 July.
- a Bulldog in the flypast coded 'B'
- a Beech 200 parked on the North side at the end of the sow
- a Cessna Citation parked also on the North side at the end of the show
Additionally, when we drove past Brize Norton in the evening, there was a parked airliner visible with a red tail, plus a C-17 landing at 1822Z/1922L. Does anybody have any idea what these were?
Thanks in advance

The chipmunk that was in the flypast was WG308 (G-BYHL). I am very lucky to be WG308's pilot.
Any photos of the flypast, please post??? all interesting to see.
