Rob,

Great shot :bthumb:
Great plane and rare beast

Absolute highlight  This plane alone makes it worth to drive to the Belgium coast.

Haha, funny, I could not care less about that prop plane. Why is it so special Rob? I would be driving up there for the T-birds, (really original ;) ) but a Estonian prop.. Neeh!
I really don't appreciate the essence of flying probably ;) Hope you have a great day Rob, curious with what you will come up with ...

:M-):
I wouldn't even drive to Volkel (150 kms) to see the Thunderbirds! That Estonian Antonov rocks and is worth 100 white F-16s!

Like Roel says everybody has its own priorities and mine would be with the An-2 instead of the Thunderbirds. Nice picture Rob 8)

Generally I see more interest on AF.com and A.net for pictures of fighters than props & helicopters so Andras is not alone in his view I think ...

Thanks guys....

For me the An-2 is just a rare sight... You don't see operational An-2 very often...
Yesterday we have also been bored by the Thunderbirds for about an hour. I didn't take a shot of it....
Perhaps its because I saw three displays of them last month at Izmir?

I went to Koksijde for a few reasons.... the Estonian An-2, the Saudi Hawks, and the Polish Hip.
Unfortunately the Saudi Hawks didn't fly, but we did see them. End the Polish Hip didn't arrive on time for us, as we had to leave.

But as said, everyone has its own priorities...

Best regards Rob.

And if their display is as crappy as the one on Waddington last Saturday... i bet you will take no pictures at all instead of a few formation shots. But that's just my opinion ;)

And I for one couldn't agree more with you Rob! If you have never seen the T-birds before, I can imagine why you could have different ideas but the An-2 is a great plane, certainly when wearing an Estonian military jacket. Of course everyone has his own view on the hobby and some people only understand the value of great planes when they are no longer around...

Yeah, it was definitely worth the long sit in the passengerseat with a sore back next to Rob ;-).

Very nice picture of the Antonov, to me it's more interesting that the T-Birds. I also like this special colour Alpha Jet... :D

In the evening there was a flyby over the beach and the town of Koksijde, but at this time the weather wasn't nice anymore....

Hi Rob,

My thoughts are the same as yours ! The Thunderbirds are probably a fantastic formation display team, but in their fancy colorful livery they is just as interesting as any "kermisattractie" to me. Needless to say that I don't like the modern colorful tails like the Pakistani C-130 either.

To me the An-2's touch a sweet spot, especially as they look like they flew straight on from an operational mission.

But as many described above, it's a matter op "personal feeling". Everybody has their own favorites, and as long as there is something to see for all of us, we can just be happy.

Lucky you,
Iwan, who is just at work now

With the Tbird issue, i dont see them that much so i dont really mind them, but i have the same feeling with the Red Arrows and Patrouille de France.. to many damn times ive seen them, and nothing really changes with their routines.

Also it doesnt help that they have been flying the same type of aircraft since i started photographing, and are present at almost every bigger airshow in Europe.

If they changed aircraft (Eurofighter Red Arrows, Rafale PTF, F22 Tbirds:P) i would be interested again but as of now, i go to Koksijde because its a nice trip there with a friend of mine who hasnt seen the Birds.

And who knows i might get a Tbird pic i like :)
