I just checked with the organisation and indeed, the event is open to "everyone who feels he/she is a friend of the Regiment", regardless of whether one used to work with the regiment or not. An interesting alternative (and close by!) for those of us not travelling to Zeltweg or Luxeuil that weekend!

Im part of the regiment and we just recieved inviting cards for familiy members and my last information I recieved last week was that only family members of the regiments soldiers are invited, so I dont really know If its open for "everyone". Just to let you know that you dont stand infront of the gate dissapointed.

Now I'm confused... After having stated that I was a foreign national with no link to the Regiment whatsoever (other than that I like the CH-53 a lot...), I received an e-mail through the website mentioned above from a mr. Stefan Gülpen, which reads:

"die Leistungsschau ist auch (neben den Ehemaligen und Familienangehörigen) für alle (!) Freunde des Regimentes zugänglich. Wir freuen uns auf ihren Besuch !"

In other words: the show is accessible for all friends of the Regiment, whether family, relatives or not!

No confusion anymore, I got this answer from Stefan Gulpen:

thanks for your interest.
The answer to your question is simple: YES. Feel free and visit us. You need only your passport and a lot of joy. J
The patch is available for 3€ at two or three different places at the field. I guess you won’t miss it.
Greetings to the Netherlands.
CU at 1st of July.

Gr, Edel.

Sweet! 8) I think it is no problem, if the number of visitors stays manageable. Have fun there on 1st July!

After reading the information at the website of MTHR15 carefully, my conclusion is that it might be not a public event....

"Dazu werden wir uns vor allem den ehemaligen Soldaten / Angehörigen / Mitarbeitern (m/w) und den Familien und Freunden der aktiven Regimentsangehörigen mit einer Leistungsschau präsentieren."[/i]

"Die anwohnende Bevölkerung wird um Verständnis für die Lärmbelästigung im Zeitraum der Flugvorführung gebeten."

"Der Eintritt ist kostenfrei und Personalausweis ist mitzuführen."

It just looks like some sort of familyday to me.

expect for anyone who visits RB that the guests, mitarbeiter u. publikum will be on the hangar side.
and thus
if the sun shines, it is in your face.

Well, that depends... given that the runway is 09/27, the hangars are located both to the north and the south of the runway and the fact that the aerial demonstration is between 1745 and 1845, the sun might actually be shining (if at all  ) from the (western) side.. so side-shots on the taxiways and banking shots in the air will probably be possible.

And, Ernesto, while it is probably true that this is predominantly a family day, at least two of us received e-mails from the organisation that the general public was welcome (as stated here before). Why do you doubt the organisation :?: The website also mentions that they can cope with up to 50,000 spectators. Now, that surely cannot all be family and relatives, can they  And the word "personalausweis" merely means ID-card/passport, not some (military) identification.
