Hi Brienzer,
In that case I either missed one, or she did not fly when I was around. I'm not a numbercruncher, so these are the ones I remember seeing and with photoproof.
This was my first ever visit to Meiringen, do hope to come back at some point!
Greetz,
Hans.

Re: Meiringen (LSMM) - 2011 MIL
Hello....
I'm going to Switserland for ten days (21-05 t/m 30-05), and will stay in the near vacinity of Meiringen. Can somebody tell me some hotspots and other interesting information.......looking at the movements, it's not a real busy base, or am i wrong? however, any info is very welcome!
kind regards Menno

Hi,
Just go there you will find youre way..it is very easy and interesting
They will fly with Hornets during that week so probably 4 till 6 Hornets every round (often 2 in the morning and two in the afternoon) with a standard lunchbreak from 1200-1330....
Enjoy!
Ciao,
Marco

Hi Marco...
Thanks, appreciated! 4 (at least) hornets making 4 rounds in total, would mean 16 takes offs and 16 landings, that is not bad at all. hope the weather will cooperate I know it's pretty easy to get close to the action (taxi track), but of course i hope to get some dramatic take off and landing shots with a nice scenery of mountains in the back Do you by any chance, know if a ladder is necessary there?

If a ladder is needed at this moment I don't know but you can try youre luck on www.flugzeugforum.de
Maybe there is a fence by know I am not sure but still it would mean great oppertunities, no worries....

Hi Menno,
no ladder required in Meiringen minimum 'till summer. They want to built a fence around the base this or next summer, but it should be possible to take very good shots without ladder also then.
I suggest that you are interested in a small base visit (90mins) that week. From Mai 'till October you can visit the BattleDamageRepair-Facility each Wednesday. For further Infos look here:
http://www.lw.admin.ch/internet/luftwaf ... smina.html
Inscriptions via Meiringen/Haslital Tourism. It's free.

Yes he mean that the 15 Hornets and 5 Tigers will fly the whole week (calendar week 40, 1-7 October). "Strabante" is the first bigger exercise since 1991 and all parts of airforce are involved.Marco wrote:sorry, maybe it is me, but what date? You mean in the week of 03 till 07 october?

I have been to Meiringen two weeks ago (see topics here http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=74562 and here http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=74601) i had two beautifull days and boy, can you get close to the action there! It made me so enthusiastic, that i want to plan a spotting trip to Zwitserland. 1-7 October seems to be a very good week with lots of action and even the tigers flying....
My question is, what bases besides Meiringen are allso intersting to visit that week? don't know how many bases Zwitserland has in totall, what is stationed there and if you can get as close on the other bases as you can on Meiringen...
All info would be helpfull!
Grtz,
Menno
