In that case not all types on the inventory will be on show, I miss the new B.737, the VIP transports and the gliders. But still a very nice list, which alone should make it worth the journey in my opinion!2. Turkish Air Force static participants are as follows:-

I am not 100% sure, but I think the B737AEWs are not yet delivered to the THK, although they are already flying in Turkey (I read something about acceptance of the first one at the end of June). To expect gliders in a flypast is a bit....oh well, never mind.

I can assure you about us (the Bulgarians). MiG-29UB, PC-9M, C-27J are to come. I don't know why they didn't put Bulgaria in the list.Shannon spotter wrote:Looking very nice!
The Bulgarians are still missing in the static park tho

Hmm, sorry if I come across as a bit 'ungrateful' here but for a show that's celebrating 100 years of the Turkish Air Force, is the line up that good currently? Sure they have the Pakistan AF, Slovak MiG 29, USAF Thunderbirds, Italian solos and Romanian IAR 99s but notable participants are still missing from the line-up with just over a week left before the show. No Ukraine, Spanish solos, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus or Bulgaria stand out the most to be honest...

My thoughts .. be happy with what you get these days. And always remember, they do not have to do this.
. It can always be better, that is also true. But these days I think they did there best.
Now let us just hope that some volcano doesn't spoil the fun.... Now back to topic : PArticipants.

My thoughts: maybe have a closer look at what is expected and not trying to find something that is "missing". If this isn't enough, I think you'd better reconsider your hobby. At least about 60 THK aircraft, Jordans, Algerians Pakistanis (at least 10 aircraft!), Romanians, the TB etc etc...If this doesn't satisfy you...Well and IF everything you want will show up, then the next airshow will become the next item to critize, because the Izmir show was better etc. Just take a look at what you can see, and check how often you have seen Turkish aircraft, or pakistani fighters. So please stop complaining and be happy, and don't imagine all kinds of unrealistic thought about how a 100 years celebration must look like. And again: just wait till the show is over before you judge.

It's also a matter of perspective. In Turkey, they have not exactly had that many airshows over the last decade, so anything that turns up is a bonus, especially aircraft and teams from Western Europe that are rarely -if ever- seen over there. For us from Western Europe, spoilt by air shows, air tattooos, spotters days and the like (though less than in those infamous "good old days"), and with our attitude of "we've seen it all and been -nearly- everywhere" it is precisely the other way round: we want to see as much of the THK as we can. Now, bearing in mind that the THK probably is more focussed on presenting themselves to the vast mass of Turkish people that have never been allowed to take a close look at their own Air Force, they do a great job of combining "the best of Turkey" with "the best of the rest", so we can all enjoy the show. I know I will!

To put it bluntly: who cares if there will be a solo Czech Gripen or Spanish hornet demo? I see a static line-up with among others 3 T-37's and 3 T-38's and a flypast with the same numbers of both.... That's the stuff I will fly to Turkey for!

The Slovak Mig-29 has disappeared from the website . I was really looking forward to see the Slovak Mig-29 Demo finally. Let's hope that they made a mistake.
Re: Izmir 4-5 June - 100 years TuAF - Participants
Does anyone has an idea where the a/c for the mass formation are flying from ? Also from Gigli or from Bandirma or something (3 hrs drive from Izmir) ?
See you there
