Hi everybody
In one week time I'll go for two weeks on holiday to Andalucia, Spain. Beside the cultural highlights, I also want to visit some of the airports.(civil).
Can anyone tell me how the spotting conditions are at Malaga, Granada, Sevilla and Jerez Airports? I take pictures and do numbers.
All info is welcome.
grtz,
Cor

Spotting in Spain
In the near future I will do some spotting in the middle & south of Spain (only mil, Madrid/Seville/Murcia triangle). With a rental car, the Scramble Airfield Guides and some good wetter I hope for a great time. Just two small, but very important questions: How is the general attitude towards military spotters and what about using a scanner?
I hope someone can help me with this.

Re: REQ: Spotting in Spain
Went for a spottingtrip to Madrid's surroundings (Getafe, Torrejon, Colmenar) last Octobre. General attitude towards spotters variates.
First of all, scanners are forbidden.
At Getafe we were quickly sent away from the maingate. While driving around the airfield we were passed by the police who didn't take notice at us at all. Half an hour later we were actively spotting with binoculares and noticed a policecar wich was looking for a way to get to our position. We quickly moved by foot through a shortcut to our car and left.
At Colmenar we were visited by the guardia civil. They checked our pasports and camera's. Taking pictures wasn't allowed and the place where we were standing (according to the Scramble guide a great place). This turned out to be a kind of park wich only could be entered by some locals to harvest mushrooms. Yes, the guide's right ... that place is perfect for spotting at Colmenar, but in the end not suitable due to local regulations.
At Torrejon we were visited by the local policia. We were standing just on the bourder of where the military jurisdiction ended (somewhat 400 meters from the fence). Taking pictures of planes wasn't a problem, as long as we didn't take pictures of or towards the base. Nice fellows, those local policia. We had a half an hour talk with them, wich ended in this cool picture (made by the other policeman ... towards the base ):

Re: Spotting in Spain
Hi ,
The last week of June 2011 I'll go to Torremolinos. We will fly to Malaga airport and I'm planning to visit the airport during the vacation.
I'm a military spotter so I'm interested in the Guardia Civil area.
How is spotting at location A and is making photo's a problem?

I was at point A during november 2009. I was there for a short moment (trying to catch some mil traffic) but it was empty. As far as I know spotters hang around there all the time. This is also confirmed by the many pictures on for example airliners.net and others from this location. The mil platform on the right of point A is frequently used although no aircraft are based. So be sure to check if you are interested!
Best regards,
Remco

Re: Spotting in Spain
Hi Remco,
Thanks for the response. It's indeed the mil. platform I'm interested in.
I already checked some pictures at Airliners.net, but I do not know the attitude of Spain by photographing military objects. Are they like the Greeks or like Holland?
Greets,
Arnold
