In august during my holliday in Sweden I am planning to visit Satenas. Now I can see on Scramble Airfield Directions that Satenas has 2 runways. (09-19 and 11-29)
Can somebody tell me which runway is used the most, or is just depending of the wind direction?
And how is the Swedish police or military police responding on spotting around an military airfield.
Coen.

Hi Coen,
Can not comment on the approach of the Police these days. Haven't been to Sweden recently. In the past they were quite active in sending you away from several bases.
Regards,
Stefan
AFAIK 01-19 is the preferred runway. But, does it really matter if you are going anyway? All spots are relatively close to eachother.camel1 wrote:In august during my holliday in Sweden I am planning to visit Satenas. Thanks Stefan,
Another question.
Do they have a certain scedule of flying overthere. I mean, do they fly 5 day a week all day long, or do they have non flying days. (except for saterday and sunday)
Which day is the best to go.

Went to Satenas last year. Indeed RWY 01-19 was in use, the other one was under construction.
No police seen,. but also no issues with locals. On the contrary had a nice chat with a Belgian local during my stay. I did keep my distance from the fence though, so that might have helped. Talked to some english spotters who were send away at the fence. So just keep appropiate distance and you'll be allright. Don't forgtet the preserved Saabs at the main gate!

My experience is that there is no 'best day to go', although I generally tend not to go 'operational' on Fridays. The Swedes (incluing the air force) used to have summer holidays with the majority of flying activities being stopped (July / early August). Not sure whether they still practice this.camel1 wrote:Another question.

Oké, thanks for the info. Can't wait to go.
I was on holliday in sweden july/aug. 2010 and saw some Gripens dogfighting every day over the lake at our place. So I think I have to spent a day or 2 this year for visiting their homebase.
